Let's talk about "Upscale"! Well family of seven walked into the restaurant.. Semi greated by the bar tender.. We were sitted and it begun! The bartender came to get our drink order.. While he is taking the order.. The phone rings... He says I have to get this and leaves.. Comes back finishes the rest of the order.. (Didn't have Diet Coke). He comes back with one drink which wasn't the right drink and my sister took it.. Comes back again with rest of the drinks and as he is passing them out.. Holding the drinks over my head.. There goes all the drinks, over my head and half of my body and my iphone6... (Fine.. Accidents happen!) when my uncle asks for the owner, he was not apologetic at all.. The waitor and him argued in front of us.. Absolutely unprofessional.. The waitor said he is there alone today and every night, when we asked him if someone could help him since there was Coke everywhere.. The owners respond to my uncle as he tells him what happen is " well let's see what happen to her phone" Not sincere at all or even Offering to take care of my food alone or Something.. Nothing at all.. It's sad that someone that's suppose to represent my culture has such a horrible customer service.. Never again!! So disappointed.. We left and...
Read moreOkay....so this is a 5 star hidden amongst the downtown tourist restaurants! Ali, the owner, believes in a dining experience, so don't go here if you want fast food. Go here if you want great food! A small, cozy, and unassuming restaurant, you've likely walked by in one of the busiest spots on Whitaker Street. We started with a four plate sampler of dolmeh, hummus, babaganesh, spanakopitakia, served with pita bread, freaking amazing! Our friend who had never had most of these dishes loved them. Spiced just right with savory favors but made fresh with a hint of lemon. I had the amazing chicken kabob. Ali told me he marinated the chicken in milk and spices. It melted in my mouth. The rice is its own special treat, made with honey, almonds, and saffron. It was a second star of my dish. We also loved the Moussaka, Pastitsio, and the Chiken Koobideh kabob. I tried my friends order of the chicken Koobideh kabobs and liked my chicken kabobs better. Marinated as opposed to ground, but just my preference. We paired it all with a Greek white wine and finished with a Turkish coffee. It was a great dining experience I would put against the much higher priced, high-end hotel restaurants of Savannah. Would I go back?!? See you...
Read moreAs we pondered what our anniversary meal would be as it was too cold for outdoor restaurants we stumbled upon Persepolis. As hesitant thoughts ran through my head about the food, due to the fact I was born in that region and exposed to proper preparation of the food. I took my seat in an empty restaurant and was greeted by the owner, when I was hit with a remembrance of my culture and everything I enjoy about it! The owner diverted his attention to his only two customers with amazing recommendations, drink parings, jokes, and life experience! After making our decisions on the lamb and filet mignon kabob he cooked our meal and served us! The food was up to par with what my mother would make and then we moved onto hookahs or what people would call my fathers hobby! I explained to the lovely owner that I was expecting some expertise when it came to Hookahs as I was brought up making flavors and enjoying them. He was amazing and brought out his own mixes to allow you to smell and decide. For the next hour or so we enjoyed the casual atmosphere and the war stories we swapped as our night at Persepolis came to an end.
Definitely recommend anyone to visit and if you’re only in town for a bit as we were...
