I've visited the Savannah Rise at least five times. Every time family and friends come to Savannah, I encourage them to try the biscuits and donuts. Although seating is limited, friendly service and delicious food have made up for the limited space. I expected today's visit to be no exception. Unfortunately, I was proven wrong. The young woman who waited on me and my family seemed impatient. When I looked over at my mother in law to ask her what she wanted, I looked back, and caught the woman waiting on us doing an impatient eye roll. I literally caught her mid-eye roll. She was clearly upset that we weren't moving faster. When she realized that I saw her, she looked somewhat sheepish, but she didn't apologize or attempt to explain her rudeness. If that wasn't bad enough, within five minutes of leaving the store, I realized that I didn't have my credit card. I had only gone a few blocks, and I was so rushed at the register that I couldn't remember getting it back. I immediately walked back to the store and looked around. I asked a man that I assume was the manager if he could check the store camera to see if I dropped my card, and he said that he could not. I then asked if I could check the trash can. I started looking through and pointed out that I needed a bag to separate the trash as others had already thrown their trash on top of my bag. He turned and walked away without saying he would help me. Maybe he misunderstood my request? We left and I called back out of frustration. I believe I spoke to the same manager. He said that he would go through the trash himself and call me back. He did call me a few minutes later to say that he had found nothing. The whole episode was just bizarre. Overall, a bad experience. The woman at the register was incredibly rude and immature. Needless to say, we will not be returning to nor...
Read moreMy mistake. I thought I had covered all the bases and that I would just have to walk in pick up my order which would be ready and leave. I ordered online the day before with a pick up time of 10:30 AM. But it was Sunday. They had no idea that everyone in Savannah would drop by. The only Covid procedure that they practice is making everyone wear a mask. However, there is not enough room to social distance. When you open the door you bump into a crowd. Having never been there before I wasn’t sure where to pick up my order. I went up to the register to ask and I was told by the young man then I had to stand in line. I said, is that the line I stand in if I place my order yesterday to pick up this morning? He asked for my last name and said that my order would take 10 to 15 minutes to fill. I noticed he wasn’t wearing gloves. He was handling everyone’s coffee cup as he passed it to each person. It was very busy. He did not keep up with making coffee and both urns were empty. The coffee he served me in a cup that he had touched twice was wretched. I made two suggestions to him, one regarding the lines that were nonexistent and one about wearing gloves. To each suggestion he said, that’s a very good suggestion and I will certainly keep that in mind. There is no one in charge. Each employee is so busy working that the customers are made to feel forgotten. They could have asked people to stand outside once their order was placed and they had paid for it. Then someone could have gone out and called their name. He should have worn gloves. I should never go there on Sunday again. It was a great deal of stress for a buttermilk biscuit with sausage. The coffee, which cost $2.85 was not drinkable. I sincerely hope that they get their...
Read moreI was slightly disappointed in seating. This place is mostly a grab and go type of restaurant with two or three tables in front of the restaurant. The staff didn't even greet me at the counter or provide me with how to place an order. As a first comer, this was kind of a turn off. Later they came over for a second and pointed at the tablet to create my own order.
As far as the good goes, I wanted donuts and was looking for a spot so I came here with my wife and daughter. We didn't even end up getting donuts, but were not disappointed with a Beignet donut option.
When in a historic town in the south, you HAVE to try a place that has Beignet's. These were excellent. Perfectly coated in powdered sugar on the outside with a slight crunch and super fluffy inside. Every bite was incredible.
I also got a chicken biscuit which was good but I was a little disappointed in the biscuit itself. Wasn't much more special than a Bojangles biscuit and my wife actually preferred the Bojangles blueberry biscuit over the one they offered here.
I got some coffee too, thinking that it was going to be prepared and ready to go... But I had to make the coffee myself with the coffee dispenser and supplied creamer (like at an all you can eat breakfast hotel). Can't believe I paid over $5 for that. Honestly it was a joke.
So I WOULD recommend this place, but only for specific things. Stay away from the coffee, and probably go somewhere else if you're wanting biscuits that are more memorable than the...
