Great food and even better service! And we are mad we didn't find it sooner! And I think our only disappointment is the fact that they close at 3 PM. Don't most diners stay open 24 hours? Lol but with food like this, a full bar, And these two girls on the team, this place could be packed 24 seven. A young dark-haired lady took us to our table and told us she would be back. Not a minute later, another woman who introduced herself as Carrie came over and offered us something to drink. We saw her stop at a couple other tables and figured it would be a while before she got back with her drink… Bad start… But boy were we wrong! the cool part about this restaurant as you can see everything the employees are doing! We watched Carrie stop at three other tables, go behind the counter, get a huge tray and fill it with all the drinks and skillfully deliver each one without dropping them! So when we found out it was her first day here we were flabbergasted! We assumed we would have to wait for another waitress to take our order, but Carrie was ready to take it, and she did it like she's been there for years! The other young lady brought us our food in less than 10 minutes and this was definitely an eye-popping meal! The portions are huge the food is hot Terry did not let our coffee cups get below half and the other young lady, who we were great, not asking her name, was a great support for carrie, and also working just as hard taking orders and to our surprise, training Carrie! Carrie made sure to give the entire resturant team credit was the topper for us. The atmosphere and environment were like home! But with servers that work together like they were related and had been doing it for years. Anyway, I highly recommend this place I don't know what all the bad reviews are about service because we rate this in our top 10 service experiences, and we have traveled the world! photo is of...
Read moreWhen I heard about this diner, I was hopeful, but I had reservations. When was the last time you had really great, real diner food? First thing, when we walked in, it smelled wonderful, the floors were clean, the tables were clean, the condiments were clean. The kitchen was open, so they had nothing to hide. Every staff member was so kind, patient, nice, professional and attentive without being overbearing. Now, the food! Oh my gosh! I got the corned beef hash with rye toast and scrambled eggs. My friend got the chicken fried steak with eggs over medium and rye toast. Our eggs were perfect, exactly how we ordered them. The corned beef hash had HUGE chunks of corned beef, not little shreds. The hash browns were not frozen, they were hand shredded. The rye bread, and all of the other breads are made in house. The toast was dense, but not heavy. It was incredibly good. My friend's chicken fried steak was a thick cut of real steak, lightly bready and not greasy. It was not a frozen chicken fried steak from Sysco. The gravy on the chicken fried steak was 100% perfect. My friend let me know that the coffee she ordered was nice and rich and dark and tasty. When our food was delivered it was still hot and steamy. Is there anything that I can say that is negative about this diner? I would like to, because I would like to keep it a secret so I can get a table after church on Sunday! I want this diner to succeed though, so I do not have one negative...
Read moreSummary: Very nice/good service but pricey for a breakfast "diner," with a few flavor problems and HUGE portions--maybe if you're really hungry, like haven't eaten in days, it'd be good.
We were seated almost immediately and our server was great.
The portions are HUGE. There is a reason they have a "split" offer on the menu--I cannot imagine finishing what we ordered.
My boyfriend got a three-egg chili omelet. It was incredibly big. The next size up is six eggs. I don't know if they gave him a six-egg one or what, but it was WAAY too much for him to eat. He wasn't thrilled with the taste, but he also said it wasn't bad. Just too much food and kind of mediocre.
I got two pancakes, eggs over easy, and sausage patties (which I requested to be subbed for the links and which they accommodated, no problem). Mine were likewise huge--estimate the pancakes were 8" wide each, and the sausage patties were easily 3 1/2" around. I the pancakes and eggs were perfect, but tbh the sausage patties were not good at all, each of us only had a bite. I think it was too much sage--not 100% sure but some herb/seasoning had been dumped into the mix. Not sure if it was a one off or that's the way they always make them, but kind of regretted asking for the patties instead of the links.
I don't think we would pay $18 per dish (plus coffee) again given the flavor. Wish I had just ordered a side, their much-touted cinnamon roll, and a coffee. That said,...
