A lovely little guest house nestled on the river bank with quaint rooms and a small garden opening up to the river. Just footsteps away from a great selection of historic taverns and other buildings. I stayed in room 3, with a window looking out to the garden and the river. The garden directly outside the window is reserved for residents in room 3 which is nice and also ensures privacy for it's occupants. The room was fairly basic, but very clean and comfortable with a double bed. There was no wardrobe but a hanging rack with clothes hangers on one wall. The room had a hand basin with mirror. The bathroom contained the loo and a suprisingly big shower. The guesthouse has a shared kitchen with a microwave and kettle, along with some basic crocklery and cutlery. I arrived by coach and it was a good 10-15 minute walk to the guest house - mostly downhill, but cobbled most of the way. I didn't have breakfast at the guest house so can't comment, other than the breakfast room looked nice. There was a book shelf with a selection of books in different languages in the corridor and also a large table with benches in a common area. I would reccomend staying here and will definitely stay again on...
Read moreWe had the small downstairs bedroom. It had a small window with views of the river, although it's not the easiest to see. There's a small courtyard out back with tables and a small gate leading to your own private piece of the river. Expect ducks and a great view of the cattle tower. Although the room is quite tiny, it's there just for sleeping, right. The bathroom is also small but has the essentials to include a hairdryer. Outlets have the standard European rounded, two-prong setup so make sure you have your adapters. The breakfast is quite charming with a selection of meats, cheeses, breads, cereal, and fruit. There are various butters, and jams, too. Coffee and tea is unlimited, serve yourself. Only regular sugar, so if you're a Splenda person, bring your own (that seems to be standard across the countries we've visited). Staff presence is only during check in and breakfast. They'll give you a key to the pension and your room, so come and go as you please. Our interaction with the staff was nice....
Read moreWe loved the location of Penzionek Olsakovsky. We had the top room which had a large bathroom and a sitting area. It was a charming place. We enjoyed walking out the back door onto the garden terrace. From there, a gate opens to a slate/rock little walkway next to the river. We sat there and ducks swam up to us. Breakfast was not a hot meal but it was excellent and more food than we could eat. Teresa was a great hostess. The castle, stores, and restaurants were all just a walk away. The only minor negative was the sheets and towels were very rough (they are air dried), the bedcover was actually 2 different pieces that kept shifting (common in Europe) and the pillows were really just a flat sham. We easily got used to these things and definitely would recommend...
