A Must during your visit in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A Copenhagen Canal cruise is widely regarded as an excellent way to explore the city from a unique perspective.
The weather was very cold in January make sure to take some warm winter wear.
Scenic Views: The cruise offers stunning views of Copenhagen's charming canals, historical buildings, and colorful houses. It’s an excellent way to take in the city’s architectural beauty, particularly in the Nyhavn district, where the famous harbor is lined with bright, picturesque buildings.
Informative Commentary: Most tours come with an informative guide, either live or recorded, providing historical context, fun facts, and insight into Copenhagen’s culture and landmarks. Visitors learn about famous sites like the Opera House, Amalienborg Palace, and the Little Mermaid statue.
We had live commentary and the guy was amazing, make sure to tip them for the information provide and the captain of the cruise who has tremendous skills to pass you safely through the narrow canals.
Relaxing Atmosphere: The cruise offers a peaceful and relaxed experience, especially on a sunny day. The slow-paced ride allows passengers to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Copenhagen without the hustle and bustle of city streets. Comfort and Accessibility: The boats are typically comfortable and provide ample space. Some even have covered areas in case of rain, making it an enjoyable experience in various weather conditions. We opted to stay outdoor and the cold was un bearable. The views are not to be missed.
Great for All Ages: Whether you're a first-time visitor or a long-time resident, a canal cruise is a great way to see the city. Families, couples, and solo travelers all find the cruise enjoyable. Read moreI booked the tickets for me and my wife Wendy, online with Stromma the day before our trip and downloaded them to my phone. We went on the combined Bus & Boat tour (250 DKK - about £30 each) on Monday 3rd October 2022. Everything went smoothly. We got on the bus at Stop 12 (Classic Route - Red) at about 10am. We got off at Stop 1 Ved Stranden and didn't have to wait long (about 10 minutes) for a canal boat. The Canal Boat tour was very good. The boat has sliding glass roof panels to give a better view when not raining. It was sunny for us. The boat commentary was live and nearly all in English. It was surprising how happy the Danish passengers were to tolerate virtually the whole commentary in English. The commentary was informative and entertaining. The boat trip took about 1 hour 20 minutes and returned to where we started - Bus Stop 1. We didn't have to wait long for another bus and completed the rest of the bus tour back to where we started. The bus commentary was recorded and available in many languages via the plug in earphones supplied free on the bus. The bus commentary was again informative and entertaining but I think the number of times that green, eco-friendly and carbon neutral were mentioned was a little overdone. Overall the trip was very good value with lots of great views and interesting...

We all know no one controls the weather, but when it starts thundering minutes prior to the start of the boat trip at 17.00 with dark clouds and increasing wind it is unbelievable the captain did not wait a few minutes to depart to wait the weather out. It might also have been a good idea at this time to give rain covers to passengers but no! It was only when everyone was drenched from the heavy that the crew came with plastic sheet "rain covers ".
Why was the other boat with a roof available not used under the circumstances and very unsteady weather?
All passengers were soaked and countless children were crying and there was not much leadership from the captain instead they just shouted “SIT DOWN!!” As passengers tried their best to protect themselves from a thunderstorm. What happened to “ladies and gentlemen please take your seats so we can go under the bridge”??
When neither the captain nor the crew gave instructions or offered the drenched and cold passengers to stop and disembark, I insisted that they stop, which they did after the third request.
It's probably not the first time it's rained - but it seemed like that for the crew.
I am a captain myself and knows what it takes to care for safety and passengers.
