TIP: all of the hotels offer a discount code to book here. It’s better if you wait to book so you can save $$$. It’s a very manual booking system so if you need to change the date/time or anything, this can only be done over email after 2-3 business days. Since we went on a weekend and we got the tickets in advance, there was no way to get a refund or price adjustment. Here’s the promo code if you want to use it: G-GWSNHTL.
In summary: well-maintained hot springs with good amenities relatively close to Denver (3 hours) but disappointing system for booking and overall service was so-so. No one on site was able to help us adjust the time or what we paid for our reservation since we got a discount code from our hotel the day before arrival.
Other things to note: the World Springs area is newer and nicer (no slimy stairs or funky hot springs smells) but it gets more crowded on that side because it’s 21+. They’re also not very good about kicking people out after their time has passed. This wasn’t an issue on a relatively less busy weekend but I can see where it can get crowded because of this.
The lockers were plentiful and the wristband system for your locker was great. There’s plenty of places to refill your water bottle and use the restroom so keeping hydrated was easy. The announcements at the top of the hour was good to know when you needed to head out. The food at the Sopris side (non-21+ section) was awesome - great gluten free cauliflower option was super hot and crispy. They did just leave the food outside the window and no one checked it was us who grabbed it so anyone could’ve taken our order if we had waited. Didn’t try the alcoholic drinks but they were pricey for the options. The cold plunge pool is small and got crowded often so it was hard to utilize. The pool temps on the WorldSprings side is more tepid (105 is the hottest) which is smart since a lot of people are drinking heavily, so you should check out the natural springs side to use some of the hotter pools and the general swim area if it’s a hot day. There were a lot of staff members around at all times but I couldn’t tell if they were doing anything other than occasionally removing towels. It’s a really large space so easy to spend a whole day here! The bathrooms/showers could use some kind of mid-point checkin - there was a lot of hair, debris and even spots period blood in the shower area. You definitely want to make sure you bring flip flops or something to use in the shower area.
I would recommend for the price they’re charging that they upgrade their reservation system and overall service (they employ a lot of people on site - just not sure what they’re doing!). People are paying a lot ($63 for 3 hours) to be here and enforcing people leave at the right time could make the experience better...
Read moreAs a pass holder for 9 years, I’ve always appreciated Iron Mountain Hot Springs as a relaxing and scenic getaway. It used to be a place I could count on for a clean, peaceful experience. Sadly, the quality and upkeep of the facility have declined noticeably in recent years—and it's becoming harder to justify continued visits.
The most glaring issue is the condition of the pools. Many of them now have cloudy or murky water, visible debris, and grime collecting along the sides. In addition to the water quality, the sides of the pools themselves are chipping, with worn-down finishes, broken tile areas, and rough edges. While the walkways between pools are in decent shape, the actual pool edges—where guests sit, lean, or step into the water—are deteriorating and need serious repair.
It’s not just the pools. The restrooms and locker rooms also need attention. While the indoor locker rooms have been remodeled, the outdoor bathrooms are outdated, and not consistently clean. For a destination that hosts a large number of guests daily—and charges premium prices—these facilities should be held to a higher standard.
What’s especially concerning is that, rather than focusing on maintaining and repairing these core elements, the facility seems more focused on expanding and building new features. Growth can be a great thing—but not when it comes at the expense of upkeep and guest comfort. The foundation needs to be strong before new additions are added.
During my most recent visits, I also heard several other guests voicing the same concerns—about chipped pool edges, water quality, and the overall condition of the space. These aren't isolated impressions; many longtime visitors are noticing the same issues.
Staff members are kind and professional, but clearly stretched thin. Communication about pool closures or cleaning schedules is minimal, and guests are left to figure things out on their own.
As someone who has supported this place for nearly a decade, I’m writing this review not out of frustration alone, but out of genuine concern and hope for improvement. Iron Mountain Hot Springs has so much potential—but that potential is being lost if maintenance, cleanliness, and basic guest comfort aren’t prioritized.
If these core issues continue to be ignored, I—and many others—may start looking elsewhere for a better-maintained and more...
Read moreI love this place so much. On our visits to Keystone, Vail, and Breck, we would often go to the Indian Hot Springs because it was more conveniently located. But the facilities are old, and while convenient, it never felt like a very nice experience, though many of the tubs are indoors at least.
The Iron Mountain Hot Springs were about 1.5hrs away from Keystone and worth the drive. The facilities are fresh and clean. They have large gender-separated locker rooms and ample showers and toilets. They use a bracelet system which keys in access to the lockers as well as different spas. There’s also a small restaurant and bar that allows you to conveniently order in-person or online, then grab your order without wandering too far from any of the tubs.
They have different spas packages available for a very reasonable fee. On our visit, we chose to spend three hours soaking in the international spas for under $70pp. Each spa had a placard which explained the region the bath was simulating, its mineral composition and health benefits, as well as temperature. We soaked in every bath on the international side, and they largely felt the same with only slight differences in appearance and maybe a few degrees of temperature difference. I chose to visit the cold water bath (~55 degrees, so not very cold) between hot spas for 5-15 minutes at a time. At the top of each hour, a voice overhead chimed in to let people with specific colored bracelets that their time at the facilities was complete and thank them for visiting.
We went mid-day on a Thursday and had no competition for using any of the facilities, but there were a decent number of people in all of the spas. Nonetheless, it never felt crowded.
But the whole experience was perfect. The music was relaxing and similar to what’s played at massage parlors everywhere. The Mountain views were lovely and though close to the road, no road noise disturbed our serenity. Temps were in the 40s when we visited, but the sun was out, the water warm and all was perfect. I would absolutely visit this place again and am looking forward to maybe a five hour session next time. It’s such a great place to hang out with friends and just relax after snowboarding for...
