Here's what's been going on the last 2 days. I'm at work on Thursday night and My sister calls me asking me if I knew where our mom was. I'm like no, what's up? She tells me she got a call from a number that she didn't recognize and when she checked the message it was mom. I told her to text me the number so I could look it up and see where it is. It was Macy's in jersey city Newport Mall. Mom said that her bag was stolen when she was in Macy's bathroom. I'm like WHAT? I ask my sister if she called the number back and she said that she didn't get an answer. So I call and see if I get get through but no luck. I'm trying to be calm cause I don't know what's up.
My sister calls me back and has mom on three way with a Macys customer service rep. My sis is trying to ask mom questions but her connection is bad and mom is not hearing her so I start asking questions. She says she's okay but all her stuff is gone. Id's, phone, credit cards, everything. I ask mom to put the customer service person on the line. I ask this person if there was an incident report was filed. She tells me that an incident report was filed.
I know they're cameras by the bathrooms in shopping centers and since it happened so recent that they should be able to check. She gives me the excuse that they can't check because they would have to check the whole day. In my head I'm like that's not true. Whenever my mom came in just check from that time frame.
I ask mom; when she gets back on the phone; she says they didn't file anything. Smh. Next I ask if the police was called and; thus is the kicker; the customer service tells me that the police weren't called and that mom would have to file the report. That they can't file an incident report because Macys policy is only to file a report if it's Macys merchandise......W. T. F?!?!?!
I almost flipped out but I had to go get mom because she can't get home or do anything. I get there and I'm fuming but not losing my head for mom. I get her and had to go to journal Square to contact path port authority to report her path senior card stolen.
Then we had to go the police station to file a report there for the stolen items. Get this. When we're explaining what happened the lady officer says that Macys is usually pretty good about things like that.
So; Macy's policy is to NOT help customers who have an incident in their store. They won't assist you in any way possible if you have a serious problem. I know things happen and that incidents happen but to have the place where it happened tell you they WON'T do anything because it's not their merchandise and they do nothing to help you at all is unacceptable. Never will Macys in Newport Mall or anywhere else get any...
Read moreSo this review has 2 parts to it: the first part was amazing and second part was horrific enough to give 1 star for the whole experience. So I needed a last minute suit for a friend's wedding: I found great deals and great customer service at the Macy's store here. I got a $800+ suit, pants, etc. for $175 and opened a Macy's card, GREAT! This is where it went downhill and down hill fast. After providing my updated contact information to the customer service representative, I left and went to the wedding. I waited for the Macy's card in the mail for 1 month and never received it, so I called customer service. After a long wait and an even longer search they finally found my account information. I was notified that the address on the account was incorrect so I updated it and was told I would receive a card in the mail in "7-10 business days". I waited for 7-10 business days and nothing came, so I called back.... same process- which happened 2 more times- still no card (I needed the card to set up the online payment option). FINALLY, I got in contact with dispute services who sent a letter saying they couldnt verify my address. After doing so- Iooked at my credit score and noticed Macy's had reported me to the credit bureau as delinquent, which was absurd considering I had been waiting/trying to pay this bill for 3 months....Additionally, they racked up interest and late fee charges on my account. So I call today- spoke with 4 different respresentatives, 2 hours later- I paid my bill over the phone but still have not received a credit card in the mail. This is honestly the worst experience I have ever had. Once I get this Macy's card I will be burning it and closing my account. Read moreThey have cute stuff , but the shoes department is just a place I avoid at all cost. Maybe its because when I pass by they would be having a sale and during those times forget customer service. I receive terrible service in that department every time and I just end up leaving shoes at register and advising I will no longer need help because I will give 3 different shoes to the employee and he will come back with one of the shoes and then leave again. He would end up being gone for so long I just end up leaving and then find him on the side chatting with another employee. When asked why he didn't come back he shrugged and said there wasn't any more of your sizes.No customer service. This happened twice already with two different employees. Another time I asked help at the register and a female employee snapped at another employee asking can you help this women already and glared at me while crossing her arms. It always takes me aback by peoples behavior when I present myself with politeness and understanding that these jobs get hectic. The female employee wasn't doing anything but standing near a register and wasn't in the midst of ringing someone up so I quietly asked for her help. When she snapped at other employee he rolled his eyes and asked with a sigh what did I need.Maybe they were in a fight and decided to bring it to the store floor? Who knows but I persisted for help as my mom was the one insisting to find shoes that day otherwise both employees poor behavior would be enough for me to turn away from store. So maybe try shoe department when there are zero sales and a weekday with low traffic or better yet find your shoes online. Customer service with communication and good attitude is always...
