Traumatizing Nail Appt at Jenn Paint Nail Lounge in DTLA on 8/29/25

Unfortunately, I am writing this message with deep frustration, sadness, and concern following what I can only describe as a traumatizing experience during my visit to your salon today.

Nail tech 1 a male properly performed my nail removal, cleaned and smooth nails correctly. See photos. From the moment my service began with nail tech 2, female in picture ,things were clearly off. The nail technician assigned to me abruptly walked away from the chair without explanation, apparently due to a personal issue. I was left sitting there, confused and uncomfortable, while the receptionist tried to manage the situation professionally. I want to emphasize that your receptionist was kind, empathetic, and did her best to assist me — but the rest of the staff treated her with visible disrespect, glaring, rolling their eyes, rude tone and coldness, which was painful to witness.

When another technician was asked to assist, she clearly didn’t want to, as she prioritized another client. While I understand this from a scheduling perspective, the way the situation was handled — with back-and-forth tension, dismissive attitudes, and visible annoyance — made me feel unwelcome, embarrassed, and completely disregarded as a customer. Over 15 minutes of my time was wasted in confusion and discomfort. When tech 2 finally came out with an attitude to remove the gel polish she left my toe nails jagged and with debris, unlike her other colleague who removed the nails on my hands. See photos.

What disturbed me even more was how the staff treated their colleague. The receptionist was spoken to and dismissed with such hostility that it felt emotionally abusive — all while I, a paying client, was sitting there watching it unfold. No customer should be exposed to that level of unprofessionalism or tension.

But the worst part came after I left: my toes began to burn painfully. I now understand that gel removal solution was left on my skin too long, not properly removed, and I am experiencing increasing pain and irritation. This is not just a matter of bad service — this is negligence that has physically harmed me. If the condition worsens, I will have no choice but to seek medical care and report this to the Better Business Bureau and other relevant bodies.

I chose this salon because it advertises itself as a high-end, vegan, and wellness-focused space — the kind of place where people are treated with respect, care, and attention. My previous experience at your Lamay Plaza location reflected that. But what happened today was the opposite. It felt like I had walked into a completely different kind of salon — one where chaos, unkindness, and careless/dangerous, treatment of both staff and clients is the norm.

To pay for a service under these conditions — from someone who treated me coldly and even inhumanely — was deeply upsetting. This experience has left me shaken, in physical pain, and emotionally distressed.

I expect this matter to be taken seriously and addressed promptly. I will also be leaving a public review so others can be informed. No one should have to experience what I went through today.

Sincerely, Anita 8/29/25 at...

As a business owner, I am not one to leave negative reviews for a business, but I don’t want anyone else to experience what I experienced today. I stopped by today to get a basic manicure and a pedicure. The girl at the front was friendly and accommodating and got me in quickly as I was a walk-in, but didn’t mind a wait. They seated me for the manicure first, then they asked me to move to a pedicure chair because they could do that sooner. No problem. The lady didn’t even acknowledge me she just kept pointing at the chair and talking to her coworker which was incredibly awkward. I interrupted her “conversation” to confirm she wanted me seated in that chair and she nodded. I took off my shoes and socks and sat down and they IMMEDIATELY moved me AGAIN. This wouldn’t have been a problem if it weren’t for the woman’s demeanor. They grabbed my shoes and I had to walk BAREFOOT across the public floor to get to the other chair which was very disgusting to say the least. Once seated, the girl doing my manicure asked what color I wanted. I picked the same color for both fingers and toes, but did gel on my toes and regular polish on my fingers in the same color. The lady doing my manicure was very sweet and did an excellent job. She asked what pedicure I wanted and I showed her my dry, cracked heels and explained I wanted all of the dead skin off, which is the main reason I get the pedicure. She pointed me to the VIP package, which was fairly priced had they actually performed a decent service, but it was so far from that. The pedicure started with him putting my feet in ICE COLD water, which barely reached a lukewarm warm temperature during the experience. The man doing my pedicure only scrubbed my feet with a rough sponge which hardly removed any of the dead skin on my heels. He did ONE coat of gel polish and it didn’t even resemble the same color as my fingers. It truly doesn’t even look like I have polish on my toes. When he was done I asked if he could get all of the dead skin off of my heels and he said he could only use the electric file and that’s it. He barely ran it over my heels and stated that it was all he could do. I’m not sure why I was told to get this package if they couldn’t properly perform the service. I left feeling absolutely robbed after paying $110, which wouldn’t have been a problem had i actually received a decent service. I will be reaching out to the company for a partial refund as this is absolutely beyond unacceptable. Save your money and go absolutely ANYWHERE else.

UPDATE: I was told to pass a message along to management, which I did. When I called back today to get an update on when I may hear back, the front desk girl was condescending, disrespectful, and overall an incredibly unkind person claiming that the owner is out of the country. All I asked for was an update before I have to escalate the situation to reach a resolution, and she could not have been more...

I had an awful experience at JENNPAINTT NAIL LOUNGE. I booked an appointment for an express pedicure and manicure. When I arrived, I was directed to the pedicure chair and informed the technician that I had gel on my nails and needed aluminum foil applied while I received my pedicure. Unfortunately, the technician didn’t speak English, and it took three staff members and five minutes just to explain that both services would be done at the same time.

Once the pedicure began, I noticed it was rushed. When the nail technician finally came to work on my nails, she wanted to use a machine to remove the gel, but I declined and asked for the aluminum foil and alcohol pads instead. She complied, but with visible frustration and attitude.

To make things worse, the pedicure was done poorly (photos attached). On top of that, the color being applied to my toes wasn’t the red I wanted, t was a cherry pink. When I asked to change it, the technician refused, stating she was already on the third coat. She hadn’t even confirmed the color with me beforehand. Every salon I’ve been to confirms the color on one toe before applying it to the rest. Now she was refusing to fix it.

After I insisted again, the technician told me it would cost $10 to remove the current color and apply another one. I was shocked, considering I was already getting my toes done. I pointed out that removing gel costs $5 in total, yet they wanted to charge $10 to remove a color they had just applied? They confirmed this with more frustration, speaking to me in a foreign language. The entire staff started speaking in their language, pointing at me, and showing clear signs of annoyance.

Then, the nail technician disappeared without any explanation, leaving me waiting for 20 minutes until a male technician with long nails and rough hands came over to finish my manicure. The work was so poorly done that I didn’t even let him finish applying polish to my finger nails. I stood up and headed to the reception desk. The pedicure technician never returned either. She moved on to work on a child’s pedicure and left me completely unattended, without spraying my toes or helping me put on my shoes.

This experience was a complete disaster. No one received a tip. The way I was treated has led to this negative review and will cost them my future business. I will never return, won’t recommend this place, and plan to share my experience widely. I have photos, receipts, and email confirmations to prove that I was there and subjected to this...
