First the less-than-perfect information. We followed Google Maps to get there. I was driving a van with my 2 sisters and 3 teenagers. HOLY CRIKEY! If you've ever walked down narrow, cobbled, winding Medieval streets, think about driving an American made van down one. It all turned out okay, but it was a little scary!||||We arrived at 6:15pm. There was a lot of stop and go traffic from Germany. I had e-mailed the day before to ask for a later check-in because the van needed a new windshield before we left. Things were out of our control. I did not receive a reply before leaving Germany. We I couldn't get a response at the door, I called the number given. The young lady I spoke to told me that check in ended at 5. I repeated that we were at the door right then. She said she didn't understand. I asked if we could still get our room and she said NO. A lady a couple of doors down directed my sister to another hotel. While she was trying to get rooms for us, I received a text message with a code for the box next to the door so we could get our keys and enter the outside locked door.||||My whole point is that this could have been done a couple of hours earlier and it would have saved us a lot of worry.||||There is also a map taped to the front desk with information and a map showing us where to park. It was too late for us at that point because we had parked already.||||After all of that, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The location is perfect for everything. We found the hotel to be clean and the staff friendly. Just be sure if you go to park in P1, it's the closest walk to the hotel and very easy to get to. Also, arrive before 5:00!||||The view from our room was gorgeous! We had the running river 3 stories below our window and the castle right across from that. Take a little time to research Edward Kelly before you come, it will make your stay more interesting. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I enjoyed the first day's towels embroidered with Edward Kelly Hotel and the second day's towels embroidered with...
Read moreThis place is NOT a hotel, name is misleading.||Right on river, very central. My room was on street side though, so very noisy on the Saturday night because of the gypsy bar right below my window. Luckily the double casement windows looked after the noise, and anyway they closed up tight at midnight. ||Looked like a couple of young inexperienced staff had been left in charge for the weekend. Checked in by young woman with limited English, didn't give me Wifi password or warn me that the place closes tight at 5 pm or tell me how to get back in. Luckily a German couple coming in as I was going out showed me the ropes. Bed not made up after first night. Breakfast ok, but coffee awful. Staff on Monday were better, but still grumpy.||I didn't know until I got there but the hotel is a sister company of a shuttle bus company I used to get to Cesky Krumlov from Prague, has office right next door. Given their performance as a shuttle bus company, I would have expected better from the hotel! Place has enormous potential as riverside cafe, but pretty empty most of the time...
Read moreWhen we arrived 3pm no one was in the reception, after waiting 15 minutes we saw a phone number to call. Check in is only from 2-5, if you arrive later you can’t check in till the next day. This was an international phone call for us. A young lady came right over to check us in, there was no help to get suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. The rooms we clean, comfortable and updated. We had a pleasant stay. On leaving the credit card machine still wasn’t working so we had to get local currency. I’ve never heard of a hotel that has a broken credit card machine that didn’t get fixed for 3 days. There is no one at night in the hotel and the front door was left open. That means any one could walk in. ||Chessy Krumlov is a lovely place to visit, but this hotel wouldn’t be my...
