Penzion Parkán — Restaurant in okres Český Krumlov

In Cesky Krumlov, by the river Moldova, Robert runs the Parkan Restaurant. I found the place by chance. Strategically located and beautifully decorated, I shared a couple of beers with my wife. I liked the place so much that I intended to book a table for the next day, my wife’s birthday. We don’t normally make reservations, he stated, but we’ll make an exception as long as you commit yourself to come. While we shook hands, Roberto confessed that to him the deal was made and he blindly trusted me. The next day the table was reserved and we ordered a meal that, in the end, happened to be delicious. At some point I managed to tell Robert whether he could provide me with a cake and a candle to celebrate my wife’s anniversary. Don’t worry, Miguel, everything is already set up. Absolutely befuddled, I came back to my dinner. No sooner did we finish than Robert showed up with a birthday cake and played the song for the whole restaurant. He had read my mind and generously accomplished my untold wish. And it is for this cordial, wonderful and seemingly impromptu gesture that I write these lines with the deepest gratitude. My friend and I stayed here in October of 2010 and couldn't have been more pleased with the accomodations, location and service. We didn't have reservations and stopped in to see if they had any rooms available. As it was off season they had plenty of rooms and we recieved a great deal for two nights - breakfast included.||The room itself was very big and had plenty of room for us to move around and store our bags. The beds were very comfortable and the setting was perfect. Each morning, breakfast, which included meats, cheeses, breads, coffee and pastries, was brought up to our room.||The location could not be beat. We had a room overlooking the river, right at the foot of the castle. It was a quick walk to the main square and all of the restuarants, cafes and pubs. There is nothing like sleeping with the window open in late October listening to the river flow by.||The staff was extremely friendly and helped out in any way they could. Ordered a beef goulash after being advised they were out of the beef soup. When it arrived there were only a few bits of meat on the plate swimming in lots of gravy. 4 large dumpling slices on the side. My husband had chicken Caesar which was more substantial. I felt the waiter was offhand but in fairness he was probably just busy. At 260 CK for this dish I was disappointed. When I went to pay ( we had to figure out for ourselves to go to the front desk to pay ), the waiter showed me the credit card machine and demanded payment without first showing me the bill. When I asked for it he rudely shoved it in my hand and stormed off. He kept me waiting to such a degree I nearly left myself! The girl at reception kindly explained he'd be back....eventually.
