Short summary: awful scammers who demand you leave a 10 out of 10 review on booking, DON'T BOOK THIS!!!! My boyfriend and I had a very unpleasant experience. We stayed one night and arrived very late in Cairo by bus. Even before we arrived to the hotel, the scamming started. They tried to charge 20 dollars for our ride to the hotel (for reference: we payed only 4 euros for our transfer through indrive). We told them we didn't need a transfer, but they kept texting about the unreliability of taxi companies and they didn't take no for an answer. We arrived at 2.30 in the hotel and we were given a small tour followed by almost an hour of sales pitching. We were super tired and wanted to go to bed. But the receptionist kept ramping on about their different tour packages and how cheap their overpriced taxi service actually was. We indicated many times we weren't interested in the taxi service. Since the pyramids where only 700 meters away and we would have to pay 55 euros for the taxi to the pyramids, memphis and to the busstation and 30 more for the guide. He kept persisting and it felt like we were hold hostage until we said yes. So my boyfriend struck a deal for 55 euros all inclusive. We clearly agreed this would include a tour to memphis. So imagine our complete surprise the next morning when the taxi driver returned to the hotel after only bringing us to the pyramids. My boyfriend complained to the receptionist and he made us feel so guilty and uncomfortable. According to him it was all OUR fault. The receptionist stressed how much effort finding a guide was, but he was the one forcing a guide upon us!! The taxi driver took us to a 'typical egyptian grill' where we had to pay 30 euros for a few small pieces of meat each and some sauces, bread and 2 types of vegetables. He didn't eat anything himself. There were only tourists with their drivers and it was clearly a tourist trap. Afterwards the server demanded a tip and kept asking for more when we gave 1 dollar. the driver drove a low-hanging, smucked up car. Every speedbump he had to pass diagonally, blocking at least two lanes. which slowed us down immensly and was very dangerous. He bragged about being in prison for streetracing!! We got an involuntarily upgrade of our room. since no other room was available and they gave our room away. The bathroom smelled like 50 guys smoked 100 sigarets there for a year straight. We had to hold our nose whenever entering and the water boiler was leaking on the toilet seat. The breakfast was very limited and only coffee and tea were free. We tried to buy 2 small bottles of water, but the server couldn't give back to 100 egpt. Another small way of making extra money of us. Instead of giving them 70 egpt for nothing, we ordered 6 bottles. But this is no way of managing an hotel. Before we were allowed to leave, we were forced to give a booking review while the receptionist kept hovering over us as a vulture. He looked disappointed and mad when we "only" gave them an 8!!!! The audacity!!!! The two positive things about the hotel were the amazing view from the rooftop during breakfast and the (probably fake) kindness of the receptionist when he tried to scam us. Read moreThe hotel, if you want to call it is a bag of rubbish. You name it. There is so many wrong things that you will not like but come and see by yourself if you're a stubborn like me. I regretted a lot coming to this place. It is awful. Now, 22:16 hours they're giving maintenance in the reception with heavy machines like a pneumatic hammer, drills and cutters. The noise is unbelievably and even after five or six costumers complained they are carrying on. ||Hot water: I reserved a family room for four people but only one can have a shower. The second one will have no hot water at all. After complained they sent me to have a shower in another room but after 4 minutes in the shower the water was gone... Two people still waiting for the hot water to come back everyday as they have really small electric boilers. As a result my family needed to wait about three to four hours to have a shower, my daughter and wife ended up to going to bed tired and without a shower because they couldn't wait. Never had this experience in a hotel in my life, even here in Egypt.||Breakfast: Absolutely zero to none stars. The majority of the days they don't have this or that, just one egg per customer, hard bred, no fruit, no cereal, no quality. You will receive two small falafel, one egg, six french fries. No taste. Just rubbish.||Cleanliness: Zero to none. There was |faeces in the toilet when we arrived, smelly, toilet leaking, disgusting. ||Staff: Rude and prepotent. Some of them with no knowledge of basic English, so communication is non existent. I'm not a English native speaker and I understand that you can't speak every language in the world but in a hotel English must be at least basic. The guy in the restaurant did not know the meaning of the word butter for example... |They laugh when you complain and they will treat you like rubbish afterwards.||Scam: Be aware in the whole Egypt but in this hotel they will try to convince you to exchange money here. Don't do it! They will try to sell you everything like expensive tours that you will not enjoy and are really expensive, they will arrange taxis for you and as soon you start to speak outside the hotel you will see that they're scamming you in the hotel.||I could write more and more about this experience but overall it was so bad that I hope people will reconsider their choice and decide to not come to this place. Read moreTerrible experience 2 weeks ago. The hotel definitely don‘t deserve the score they have on Booking and I would not recommend it definetely. The receptionist staff Adbulah, intendeblly cancelled himself from my phone (he said he needed to check my reservation on Booking app for a minute) when we arrive at around 3:30 am, without telling me because he needed to change our double room for a family room for that night and on the next day, we would check out this room and check in the double one as planned. It was a tremendous absurd that Abdullah took my phone in his hands and pretended to be me, using the app chat to cancel my reservation. Not enough, on the next morning, while leaving my luggage at the reception, he told me that his manager had made a reservation of the whole hotel for one agency for the rest of our stay and „kicked us out“ without saying anything else, while in Booking, there were still open vacancies. He said they would give us the refund (in dollars when we paid in euros) and that’s all. In the end, we managed to get our money back after discussing a lot with some other guy, in the evening shift, who pretended they didn‘t knew about anything. Nobody from the reception took the reponsability. They didnt tell us the manager‘s name. Also, this second guy wanted to charge us the second day of reservation when we had checked out already at 9am because of the room exchange they first told us about.
