We had dinner here last night with another couple and had a very nice time. We were greeted promptly and politely and shown to a table close to the musician. They were good about our request to be seated further away from the action so we could visit comfortably. The singer/guitar player was very good, a tad on the loud side for dinner conversation but not unreasonable. The ambience is very nice with attractive furniture and excellent lighting. The table settings were high quality with cloth napkins as you would expect with a restaurant of this caliber. Our server Kevin was cordial and prompt but not overly friendly, he made several good recommendations upon request. I had a margarita and my husband had a tiger money, my drink was good but not as spicy as I like. It was nice that Kevin asked if I wanted my rim dressed with tahine and salt. Each drink was $18 and I wouldn’t get them again, for the price I would expect a higher quality more noteworthy drink experience. The table ordered chips with salsa and guacamole. Four different types of sauce were served with the chips, two red salsas, one green chile salsa and a green sauce. The green sauce and the thicker smooth red salsa were the standouts, the second red salsa was too watery and almost oily,. The guacamole was very good, the right kind of chunky but a very small amount for $15. My husband had the duck, the mole was above average but the duck was tough. I ordered shrimp tacos and tortilla soup. The presentation on the soup was very nice with the waiter pouring the broth over the base at the table. It was excellent with a building heat that proved to be overpowering about halfway through the bowl. The shrimp tacos were tasty, the red cabbage was a nice touch. My final thoughts are this restaurant has a lot of promise. If they moderated their prices they would attract a wider clientele and get more repeat business. This is an area where google reviews misses the mark, a reviewer can’t leave more than one review for a restaurant. While we had a lovely time the value for the money...
Read moreIt was our first time here. I normally give new places a few tries to work out the kinks, but Chloe's will make me think twice.
We came in, no reservation, on a Monday night. They were busy but no line out the door. We were told it would be 20 minutes, but we were seated in about 12.
We ordered the chips and salsa, beef enchiladas, and two mole poblanos. Everything has a cost at Chloes. The sides are extra, even the chips and salsa.
My wife ordered an anejo tequila , and after about 20 minutes, she went to the bar and retrieved it. Our chips and salsa never came. After an hour, we requested they cancel the chips and salsa. The waiter explained that the kitchen was slammed. Unless the chips are made fresh, I don't know how you can screw up chips and salsa. The weird thing was that many tables came in after we did and got the chips and salsa, no problem.
Three enchiladas for $23 dollars is outrageous. These are not "Oh my god!" The enchiladas were basically ground beef with a red sauce. A few red onions and some micro cilantro. That is it. It's not very flavorful. Almost any other mexican restaurant would include rice and beans with chips and salsa.
The mole poblano was mole sauce with duck breast and a few green onions. Nothing else. Bland. Our bill was $145 and change. Three plates of overpriced food, no service, and a $51.00 anejo. The tequila was the best thing there. We also had to request silverware when our food came. The whole process from order to serve took them over an hour.
Chloe's needs to up their game. Either far, better food and service or lower your prices. The atmosphere was nice. The outdoor patio was well lit and colorful. I paid for a repesado with a large ice before we were seated at the outside bar. $26.00 for a Mijenta. It's not a horrible price, I have had Fortaleza for $12.00 a shot, and it is much better. Crazy prices. So my thoughts are that the overhead is too much. I know prices are up for restaurants, but value and cost are out of...
Read moreWe visited Casa Chloe in Fredericksburg this past weekend with a reservation for four at 7:30 PM. We were seated on the patio, and while it was a hot evening, we were excited to dine at what we expected to be a high-end restaurant.
Upon seating, we were given waters, but our server did not come to the table until 7:50 PM. At that point, we placed both our drink and food orders, anticipating slower service. Unfortunately, our waters were already empty and were never refilled. About 15 minutes later, only one of our two appetizers arrived. We still had not received our cocktails or any water refills.
I flagged down the hostess to ask if someone could check on our drinks. Our server returned to tell us that "they lost the ticket," but the drinks would be out shortly. We also reminded her about the missing appetizer. At 8:10 PM, our drinks and the second appetizer finally arrived. When we requested salt, only pepper was brought, and we had to grab another server just to get our waters refilled.
At 8:20 PM, only one of our four entrées was delivered. We ordered another round of drinks and waited about 10 more minutes for the rest of our meals. When the drinks arrived, one was completely incorrect, and two of the margaritas we had previously ordered tasted entirely different. Our server dropped them off quickly and left without addressing the mistakes. Once again, we had to rely on another staff member to get the drinks remade.
To be fair, delays can happen when a restaurant is especially busy—but that wasn’t the case during our visit. The patio and interior dining area were not full, and there didn’t appear to be any overwhelming demand that would explain the disorganized service.
For an expensive restaurant we were genuinely looking forward to, the service was a major letdown. Between the lack of attention, multiple delays, and continuous mix-ups, the experience was far from the luxury service we expected. I would not recommend Casa Chloe to anyone planning a visit—this was...
