OVERCHARGED US! They overcharged us and then denied it when we call them out on it. Let me preface this with a few facts:
A service fee is a fee paid for services rendered, a room fee is a fee paid for a space used by a client, and gratuity is the same as tip and is not mandatory. If you need to claim that tips are necessary for a worker to get a fair wage then the employer is not paying them a fair wage to begin with.
My party and I had a room for an hour and brought less than five drinks. We did our math to know how much the bill would be. Upon settling our bill we were told there was a 'policy mandatory gratuity fee.' Which is NOT thing, that's a fee and calling it anything else is dishonest. Upon calling them out on this they gave us a 5-minute runaround and refused to remove it or allow us to change it (a forced 18% tip) claiming that the boss had to be there to change it and the boss wasn't there (which is a whole other conversation in terms of irresponsible management and disempowerment of employees, if any of that was even true to begin with). Lastly, no one even came to give us a time warning, I had to go out and check and that was the only reason we weren't forced to pay for more time then we planned which would have given them another reason to blind side us.
TLDR; They were trying to overcharge us and when called out on it refused to remove it and gave at most...

They were really rude to us and kicked us out before we were ready which was totally unfair as they didn't tell us we have a limit when they gave us a room. We were about to leave in 5 minutes anyway but the waitress just came in and said there was a reservation and said we needed to go without even an apology and just handed us a bill. When I asked "Are you saying we need to go?", she just said "yeah" and nothing more. It didn't even seem like there was a reservation group when we went to pay so I think they just decided to kick us out arbitrarily to make space for new people. Not okay in either case honestly and a simple request and apology would have been basic courtesy. We went up to this place because of someone advertising it downstairs, if they don't want to take walk-ins, they shouldn't have someone advertising it. The karaoke itself uses a youtube based system which helps with variety of songs but hard to make a queue of...
