The interiors (even the toilet) were beautiful, the ambiance was pleasant, the coffee was great (strong and complex in flavour), the food was decent albeit pricey, and the waiters were efficient.

HOWEVER, to enjoy your experience here, you must do two things:

Make a reservation in advance. Service from the reception staff was horrible. Communication was bad. Yes it's peak season in December but this is nothing new and part of business right?

We entered the restaurant to queue and wait for our turn. They told us they were full and wait time was at least 20 minutes. We were OK to wait. Later, we (and other queuing customers behind us) were told that we were not allowed to wait inside and should queue outside in the winter cold (not the friendliest policy but it can be accepted if it was told to us right from the start instead of chasing us out halfway - clearly universally bad hospitality) and that we will have to manage the queue ourselves as they won't be overseeing order (even if manpower is limited, come on, there are ways to manage this instead of washing your hands off entirely?). It was only when a sizeable queue formed and started questioning that a staff explained the queue situation- why we were kept waiting despite seeing customers exiting (many, many reservations).

Accept high taxes 21% + 12% Which the cashier nonsensically claimed they were different taxes on food and drinks ; Google said VAT is 21% and the 12% was likely to be a service charge. You have a right to set your policies but surely it is not too difficult to be honest and transparent in your...

Despite the food not being very tasty, the prices were already overpriced. But what I really want to highlight is a different kind of rip-off experience we had.

When we wanted to pay the bill, we tried to use the same credit card we had used in every other European country and throughout our trip in Prague — without any issues. However, their outdated POS machine was the only one that didn’t accept it. Since we didn’t have any Czech crowns on us, we offered to pay in euros. The bill was 23 euros, but using their own inflated exchange rate, they claimed it came to 28 euros. We reluctantly accepted this.

Then, when they brought the change, they gave it in Czech crowns — but once again applied their own inflated rate, effectively converting the currency twice. We were shocked. I honestly don’t believe this is legal — you can’t charge your own exchange rate twice on the same transaction.

It was clear they were taking advantage of tourists, thinking “they’re just passing through.” We tried to explain the issue, and even spoke with their manager, but were met with rude and dismissive behavior.

In the end, we were charged 34 euros instead of 23 euros for two beers and a plate of fries — by far the highest price we paid for such a basic order anywhere in Europe. This was especially disappointing, considering Prague is generally one of the most affordable cities we’ve visited.

Every other experience we had in Prague was excellent, and we loved the city. I sincerely hope this review doesn’t reflect badly on Prague itself. But as for this place — I strongly recommend...
