I'd like to thank this place, which is rated 4.4 ( I don’t know how) for the bad time I had at a friend's 25th birthday party.
Of course I can't say that everything was bad, the restaurant staff were friendly, the plates were beautiful and the decor was well chosen.
However, why we go to a restaurant?
As far as I'm concerned, I'm looking for 4 things:
The occasion - in this case, it was an important moment in someone's life, quarter of a century ! The food The service The place itself and the atmosphere it offers.
The osteria, with just one point, managed to spoil the first 3. How did it do that?
With super-loud music to the point that even if you're sitting a few metres away from your neighbour, you can't hear this person.
I'd really like to know why the people who work in this restaurant play the music so loudly?
First request to the waiter to turn the music down, because yes, despite having booked in advance, we were a group of 9 people sitting just below the loudspeaker blaring the music. This request was royally ignored, after what I tried asking to change seats, the waiter just said: "we have a lot of bookings, changing seats is not an option".
Second request to speak with the manager. I explained that it was a friend's 25th birthday party and we'd booked in advance, but that we weren't really enjoying due to this mound music. The answer was « we can't turn the music down too much, because the people on the terrace won't hear it. All we can do is go from 80% to 70-75%, but that won't change anything. »
The noise, the music (sound at 80% of capacity, I quote the manager) spoils all the service offered by the waiters, the food made by the chefs and the decor put in place by the decorators. Honestly, I left with nothing but a disgust and a headache, not to mention the fact that the prices are not what you'd call affordable. I wouldn't come back and I wouldn't recommend it.
Nevertheless, if you need somewhere to take someone you don't like, or don't want to have a discussion with at all, THIS IS THE PLACE. The noise of the music sprinkled with the voices of the people who are still trying to talk to their table-mates will certainly help.
In conclusion to this long message, Prague is a great city with a multitude of incredible restaurants with more than pleasant service, so...
Read moreThis is not my first time having meal here. I’ve been coming here with family or friends since 2020. To be honest the foods quality is decreasing but I’m still coming here which is I don’t know why?!
BUT TODAY is the worst experience ever! The waiter charged me the tip for 10% without asking me! Basically means try to steal/cheat on me. He thought I’m tourist but I’m not.
When I saw the bill, it’s more than what I should paid for. The bill is printed and it’s written “Spropitné”. I asked him what it is? He answered “service charge”. And I was wondering since when they have service charge because I was just here last month and there was NO such charge.
So I went out and after 10mins I googled, and also to be sure I asked Czech people and confirmed it means tips 😀
SO the waiter charged me the tips without asking me. This never happens to me for the past 10 years I lived in CZ. Usually I added by myself or I give the tips in cash separately.
I called the restaurant and asked if there is any service charge? I don’t know who was speaking, but could be the manager. He explained: “no no there is no service charge. Customer can decide to give tips how much they want or not to give, but usually 10%”
I told him that I got cheated by the waiter, he offered me to come back and get the money for extra charge or to give me some coffee/desserts.
I returned there and nobody seems really coming to me, they look scared. One of the guy pointed that waiter to me. The waiter came and return the money.
I told him that he wasn’t honest, he cheat on me, didn’t tell the truth. He said “I have answered you it’s service charge.”
I told him no, it’s a tips. And he argue with me “it’s a service charge, this is normal everywhere 10%”
Basically he tried to cheat and rename it with service charge without customer knowing it. He denied it’s a tips although “spropitné” is definitely TIPS.
I will definitely NOT coming here again. Food wasn’t that good anymore and I HATE people stealing money just like that even though only few kc. Why would I give it for some bad service and...

Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Ambience: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10
My girlfriend and I really enjoy L’Osteria – it’s one of our absolute favorite restaurant chains. We’ve been to several locations in Germany, including the very first one in Nuremberg. One thing we’ve learned: The food is always good to very good – but what really sets each L’Osteria apart is the service and how efficient and attentive it is.
This was our first time visiting a L’Osteria abroad, and we were curious how it would compare. We went to L’Osteria Narodní in Prague and were genuinely impressed. We had two beers, one of their homemade iced , and a ginger ale. For starters, we shared a bruschetta, followed by one of their huge pizzas – half Salami, half Caesar El Polo. Everything was super tasty.
The service was probably the best we’ve ever had at any L’Osteria – on par with the legendary first one in Nuremberg. Our waiter was extremely attentive, friendly, and fast. Despite it being a busy Saturday evening, everything ran smoothly. You could tell they had enough staff, which is unfortunately not always the case in other locations. This made the experience calm and pleasant from start to finish.
The ambience was great too – modern, lively, but still comfortable. Tables are spaced out nicely, and it’s easy to have a conversation without feeling cramped. We were also impressed by the warm welcome at the entrance – no waiting at the host stand, we were seated immediately.
As for the value for money, we paid around 1000 CZK / 40 EUR for two people, including tip. That’s a great price for the quality and service we got. Honestly, we’d love to have these prices at home in Germany – it would make every L’Osteria visit even better.
There was nothing negative about the experience. The entire evening was smooth, enjoyable, and satisfying. We’d definitely come back –...
