MEMENTO restaurant — Restaurant in Prague

I feel very mixed about giving 4 stars here…

Whilst the location was lovely, the outdoor seats were very comfortable and my partners food was “tasty and fresh,” I walked away disappointed. We had sat down, looked at the menu and already made our drinks order when the server told us “no pizza today.”

This was a shock as half the menu was pizza and others who already been served had, would you believe it, pizza. I could assume that they had run out of dough, which although annoying would be understandable (but they are a pizza restaurant…)

My carbonara was average I guess (bit too eggy and lacked flavour) - as I mentioned by girlfriend really enjoyed her meal (pomodoro).

To my disbelief, after finishing my meal we saw a pizza being delivered to the table next door. Now I had confirmed there were no pizzas and that is what I wanted so this was a massive disappointment.

So whilst I have given 4 stars, if it was based on my experience alone, it would...

I visited this place today and ordered two juices and a lemonade. The bill was 245 CZK. But when I went to pay by card, the waitress took it upon herself to charge me 270 CZK—without asking, without informing, just sneakily added it like some cheap scammer hoping I wouldn’t notice.

When I asked about the extra charge, she got visibly nervous and said it was for “service.” No mention of it beforehand, no consent—just a shady little trick. She barely acknowledged us, yet felt entitled to steal a tip.

It’s not about the money—my bill wasn’t high. It’s about being treated like an idiot. I paid, but left feeling completely disrespected and scammed by a clueless person who clearly doesn’t know how to treat customers. I can’t imagine what she does when the bill is higher.

To the owners: are you aware that you’re employing staff who scam your customers behind your back? Or is this part of your business model?

Absolutely...

This was my first and definitely not the last visit of this place. They took care of us like professionals with no waiting time, and they were happy to answer any question about their food (I am not familiar with some). Service was perfect. Pizza.. damn, go and try. You're gonna cut it yourself with scissors..never done it before, and it was a fun experience. Their slow cooked pork was delicious and getting apart as it was perfect. And the last, tiramisu, I love that one as i don't like overly sweet desserts, and this one was exactly as it should be. Should visit...
