This was by far the worst place I’ve ever visited. The service was non-existent, and the staff were shockingly rude and unprofessional. To make it worse, they added a tip to the bill without asking.
We went to the terrace hoping to enjoy our morning coffee and the view, but not even the view could make up for the nightmare service. We arrived at 9AM and the place was almost empty, with maybe 4-6 guests in total. We told them in advance that we will have a quick coffee and leave. They told us to choose a table, so we picked one in the shade, away from the burning sun. That’s when the waitress, with an attitude, rudely told us to move to a table for two. Which all of the available ones were in direct sunlight around the edge of the terrace.
Fine, we sat down and started looking at the menu. That’s when I’ve heard her discussing us with a colleague in Czech clearly assuming we didn’t understand. Apparently, the overfilled silicone on her face also blocked neurons in her brain from realizing that foreigners might know czech language too, along with basic manners… We quickly finished our coffee under the blazing sun. Then the waitress came up to us said nothing — no “are you done?” or “would you like to order anything else?” just shot us a nasty look, grabbed our cups, and walked off. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the bill, but no one came. we finally got up, my guest went to take pictures and i went to the counter to pay, thinking maybe that’s how it worked here. She told me to go back to my table and wait, even though the terrace was nearly empty — just six guests total! I would’ve understood if it were busy, but it wasn’t. I asked her to please prepare the bill, and said I’d take a quick photo of the view and then come pay. With obvious contempt, she snapped back: “well, in restaurants the bill is paid at the table. Have you ever heard of something called a restaurant” I was speechless. Shocked, I went back to the table, and another, much kinder waitress brought the bill right at the time i sat down — something they could have done right at the counter. she thought I was scolding her, but I quickly apologized and explained I was talking about the other one. I paid and left feeling terrible, only to realize later at home that they’d added a tip without saying a word.
If you don’t want to overpay and be treated like garbage, do yourself a favor: avoid this place and find somewhere that will actually let you enjoy your...
Read moreYesterday, we visited Terasa U Prince to bid farewell to Prague. After a week of exploring traditional and contemporary restaurants, bars, and breweries, we chose this rooftop spot for its central view. We arrived around 11 am and were given a nice table. We ordered a bottle of wine, which we didn’t particularly enjoy, but we drank it anyway. We were with an elderly couple who spoke neither Czech nor English, and it took us some time to place the order as we had to translate the menu. In the meantime, the waitress, in a manner that felt pressuring, asked if we were going to order food, even though we had already said we would. Shortly after, she had a loud and rude argument with a couple at the next table because they had complained about their tea not being the right temperature.
We finally ordered the starters. When she brought the cutlery, she roughly placed a plate with utensils on the table, causing a knife to fly towards the 80-year-old man with us. At that moment, we should have left, but we decided to give the place a second chance. The starters arrived, and we ordered another bottle of wine while choosing our mains. The wrong bottle arrived. When we asked for it to be replaced, the waitress insisted we had ordered the right one. She then called someone who seemed to be a supervisor, followed by the bartender. That’s when they realised that the menu had an error: the wine we ordered was listed as number 10 on the first page but appeared further on another page with an illustration of the wine as number 11. When we placed the order, we gave the name of the wine but were asked for the number, so we said 10. Number 11 was from the same vineyard, but it was a sweet muscat, not suitable for the meal we were having.
Even though the mistake was on the menu, the waitress kept insisting the fault was ours. She finally called someone who seemed to be the manager, and they all stood around staring at us with displeased expressions. Needless to say, we didn’t drink the wine and weren’t going to pay for the mistake. We gave up on ordering the main course, asked for the bill, and requested that the wine be removed from the total. The bill arrived with the wrong wine still included, and we had to insist on its removal. For a restaurant in such a tourist-heavy location, the service was shockingly unprofessional. We were quite taken aback by the...
Read moreReview: Terasa U Prince, Prague – Stunning Views with a Relaxing Sip
If you’re looking for one of the best views in Prague while enjoying a drink, Terasa U Prince is the place to be. Located on the rooftop of the Hotel U Prince, right in the heart of Old Town Square, this spot offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Astronomical Clock, the square below, and the red rooftops of the Old Town — a postcard-perfect scene, especially at sunset.
I stopped by for a casual drink and ordered a Piña Colada, and it was exactly what I needed after a day of sightseeing. Creamy, chilled, and well-balanced, the cocktail had a nice mix of sweetness and tropical freshness, with just enough rum to give it a proper kick without being overpowering. It was served beautifully and added to the relaxed, upscale feel of the terrace.
But let’s be honest — the real star here is the view. Sitting just a few meters above the famous Astronomical Clock, you get a stunning angle that’s hard to beat. Whether you’re here in the afternoon or early evening, it’s a fantastic place to unwind and soak in the charm of Prague from above.
The atmosphere is stylish yet comfortable. The terrace has a mix of tourists and locals, all enjoying the view, taking photos, and sipping drinks or enjoying meals. The service was professional and attentive, and while the place does lean on the pricier side — as you’d expect for such a prime location — the experience felt worth it.
If you’re visiting Prague, Terasa U Prince is not just a restaurant or bar — it’s an experience. Whether you go for a full meal or, like me, just stop for a drink, it’s the perfect spot to take in the city’s beauty from above. The Piña Colada was the cherry on top of a peaceful, memorable break in the heart of Old Town. Highly recommended for the view alone — the drinks just make it...
