At around 13 in the afternoon, we decided to find a nice place to eat, in the most tourist but also a beautiful part of denmark. We unfortunately didn't read the reviews before sitting down. I fancied chips, and my partner got a pizza. The pizza was supposed to be a spicy on but wasn't spicy at all. 4/10. Bland. I had the French frie and the fish. The salad wasn't seasoned, the fries went cold too quickly, and the fish only tasted a little better once I squeezed a lot of lemon and put remoulade, which is a danish delicacy. However, someone who is half danish, I was very disappointed. I left most of my meal. I also had a hot chocolate, which was mostly the cream on top. Hardly any hot chocolate. The tables were too close to other people, we almost got charged for the water sitting on the table and we didn't even open it. We sat near the fire machine, and that was on, the top heaters were o, and we were given blanket, and the weather was nice and warm. A little breezy, but with warm sun. I felt like a baking chicken in an oven. There's a fun review about feeling like a sardine in a tin, I felt like I related to that so much. Everyone's eyes on you. Before we left, we looked at the bill to make sure that we didn't pay for the water. Seeing that that was OK, we left. Not realising until after we were long gone, that we had paid 25% service charge. Which i was astounded by, there's no respect in that. They should ask, and we were already short of money by the end of the trip. To be charged for that, I was livid. We weren't even able to go back and talk to them, as we had to get to the airport for our flight. I would not recommend this place as a place to eat. I spent about £45 here, and we only had a small pizza, chips and fish, and two cheap drinks. They tried to get by, by giving us smiles, and checking to see if we liked the food. Other than that, they just stood around watching us. Made us feel uncomfortable, and we just wanted to get out of there ASAP. When we asked for the bill, they took forever. And at the start, when they sat us near others, there were many tables away from others, and when we asked about them, they said that these were the best spaces, and then proceeded to put another set of people, away, where we had wanted to sit. Anyway, I was very disappointed. But I am happy to write this review, which I hope will help others. I saw people looking at the menu, I was so tempted to go and tell them to look online at...
Read moreWe’ve visited Copenhagen many times and, like most travelers, we know that Nyhavn is typically more about the view than the food. We’ve eaten at several spots along the canal before, and while the scenery never disappoints, the meals often do—usually quite plain, catering to tourists. So we were honestly surprised—pleasantly so—by our experience at Nyhavn 37. The food here was not only delicious, but thoughtfully prepared and full of character. It was so good, in fact, that we came back the same day for dinner after having lunch there!
At lunch, we ordered two pizzas—one with mushrooms, and another with a mix of pepperoni and margherita. Both were crisp, flavorful, and surprisingly well done. We also shared a plate of Danish open-faced sandwiches (smørrebrød) with traditional toppings like herring, smoked salmon, egg and shrimp, and fried fish with remoulade. While the fish toppings were more on the mild side, the ingredients were fresh and well presented.
Dinner, though, was the highlight. The mussels in white wine cream sauce were light and beautifully balanced, the calamari was perfectly crisp and tender, and the lobster was juicy and satisfying. Our toddler, Kaiden, happily devoured the pasta bolognese, and we all ended on a high note with a wonderfully smooth, caramelized crème brûlée—easily one of the best we’ve had on this trip.
Compliments to Chef Rashan, who clearly puts care and creativity into each dish. His flavors had more depth and refinement than what we’re used to seeing in Nyhavn, where meals often feel rushed or basic.
The service is what truly elevated the entire experience. Michael, the manager, was welcoming and attentive, making sure we had a cozy outdoor table and even bringing us blankets as the evening chilled. Andreas, Jasmine, and Tanvir were warm, upbeat, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do. They checked in often, made great suggestions, and created a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that made us want to linger.
We’re so happy to have found a spot in the heart of Nyhavn that feels like ours. It’s heartwarming to know we now have a place we’ll return to again and again—where they know us, and where the food and service make every...
Read moreI'm not exaggerating, It was the worst meal that I have ever eaten abroad, also it cost $81. We tried to eat a margarita, fried calamar a lunch plate, and a glass of sparkling wine. Most probably Margarita was the first pizza experience of the chef. These calamari had been fried in an oil that has been used a hundred times. It is still ok but at least, It would have been better if they hadn't burned. yeah, it is time to talk about this lunch menu. Shame on you guys. If you had purchased this "open sandwich" from a market and then served it, it would have been more delicious. I did not even touch roasted beef. It was extremely stale. Shrimps were crying "Don't bite me". they were so hard we thought they were still alive. I guess, I just ate the fried fillet of plaice in order not to die from starving.
Even If we did not eat and the waitress saw the plates they still charged us the bill.
I wisely advise me living in the future not to eat in a restaurant where is located most popular and crowded place in any city. As a man who lives in Istanbul, I did not even try to cross in front of a restaurant located under the Galata Bridge. It is literally the same experience. Don't eat...
