Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, a new addition to our town’s culinary scene. The highlight of my experience was undoubtedly the sashimi, which was exceptionally fresh and skillfully prepared by a Japanese chef, underscoring the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity. While the other dishes were decent and showcased a variety of culinary influences from local and foreign chefs, the sashimi truly stood out. The environment of this restaurant added to the overall experience, featuring a very nice ambiance that made the dining experience enjoyable. However, it’s worth noting that the prices at this establishment are quite high, especially when compared to the long-running and popular local favorite, ‘Wa Zen.’ Despite this, the quality of the sashimi and the unique dining atmosphere make the restaurant a noteworthy spot for those looking to indulge in high-quality Japanese cuisine. Overall, while it may be pricier, the fresh flavors and lovely environment make it a worthwhile visit for any sushi enthusiast.

I had a truly delightful dining experience at Sumika. Every dish I ordered was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. I may have ordered a little too much for just myself (the waiter even checked if I could finish it 😅 but I did). I completely understand why they don’t do takeaways. The food is best enjoyed fresh, and presentation is clearly part of the experience. The service was excellent; very attentive without being intrusive. My glass was always topped up and plates were promptly cleared after each course. I really appreciated the open-concept kitchen, where I could watch the chefs work their magic. It added a special touch of authenticity and craftsmanship to the meal. They also have a seasonal specials menu, and you can complete your order conveniently through a QR code. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, greeting us warmly in Japanese each time we interacted. Overall, it was a wonderful experience: from the quality of the food to the ambience and service. I’ll definitely be back!

My family and I were there on June 12th. The food was exceptional and hosts were very accommodating. However, our experience were ruined by a group, whom I suspect were Singaporeans, sitting at the suishi counter that was loud and being insensitive to other diners. If you’re the ones reading this post, I hope you understand that money can’t buy class and, before you start ranting about me being racist and all, I am a Singaporean. And it is incident like this that we’re very much frown upon around the region. It is just unfortunate that instead of raving about the food, I had to be commenting on the uncouth behaviour of my countrymen.

We just returned from Sumika Melaka for dinner, it was a satisfy meals we had there. The place aymosphere was busy but calm, not noisy.

These were what we ordered:

Grilled Macarel fish. It was good, big size, fresh but has little fishy smell lingering aftertaste.

Beef tataki. The meat was not that good although cooked in perfection. They need to consider to use more tender beef.

Chiken skin. It was very good

Grilled pork belly. need more fat on the meat.

Mushroom Butter. It was good assorted mushrooms, need more butter flavor.

Matcha ice cream with mochi. Weak matcha flavour .

Black Honey Soybean ice cream. It was good, recomended.

Rice, was not regular shiny Japanese rice I eat at home, it has bigger grain.

Staffs were polite in general, kitchen was little bit hectic in busy time. Need more organised

In overal it was good experience for us and would like to return when we are in...
