Grand Café Krasnapolsky — Restaurant in Amsterdam

What an experience!!! Arrived 15 June 23 and had dinner at about 6pm. Place is nicely laid out. What a view! We had reserved a window table overview the Royal Palace. For starters we had the Eel from Eveleens. It was a fresh tasting meal with a well placed foi gras. For main course I had the Dutch lamb. It was so tender and the sauce (chefs kiss). She had the dutch trout, the trout was cooked perfectly! The jerusalem artichoke gave a nice crunchy texture and flavoring!! For a side we had the truffle fries. The condiments packaging and taste was very good. Its the small details that makes a restaurant stand out from the rest! The staff were amazing!!! From Max who was very attentive and nice. To Jesse sharing some fun facts about the certain monuments in the DAM. To Christos! Christos was such a great person to us!! Made us feel so relaxed with his amazing personality!! This place definitely has it all! Great Location, great atmosphere, outstanding food, a staff who makes you feel at home!! Would highly recommend it to anyone!! Keep up the great work!!! If I can rate pass 5 stars I would!!! This place deserves a Michelin Star or Stars!!!(surprised it has not yet). We will definitely tell our friends and family about this place. We will be back! What a disappointment,

Experience was going to the champagne bar for celebrations, never have I ever had worse service in such a place,

Firstly, over priced champagne served to us in ‘goblets’, entirely inappropriate. We asked for proper glasses after the waiter dumped entire bottle into four glasses despite five of us at the table. We had to ask three times for our oysters, and then they brought the wrong amount out. The second bottle at the end, waiter filled one lady’s glass to the top to finish it and nothing for others, after having to pour ourselves mid bottle due to lack of service.

To top it off, after being told they didn’t sell them, we then tried to buy cigars at the bar where we were told there was a ‘minimum spend’ if you want a Cuban (not another kind?), of course our spend in the champagne bar wasn’t counted, so we were offered cigars at 3x the price they had on the label, not even sure if that conforms with local advertising laws. Absolute joke of a place with staff rude and arrogant.

I would never recommend this place to anyone who expects good service or even a modicum of class. 0...

Mixed Experience Great Atmosphere, But Unequal Service**

The location and overall atmosphere of this place were lovely, and most of the staff were friendly—especially the young guy who provided excellent service. However, our experience was significantly impacted by one server (a dark-skinned woman, whose name we didn’t catch). Her attitude was unexpectedly rude, making us feel unwelcome, as if we weren’t valued customers.

What stood out was the stark contrast in how she treated us compared to other (white) guests—she was cheerful and accommodating with them but dismissive and cold toward us, the only customers of a different race. It was disappointing and left a sour note on what could have been a great visit.
