Liked the atmosphere and the house wine was pleasantly decent as well as fairly priced. It all went downhill after the food was brought in and at the end when the tried to rip us off. We tried the pizza (it is about a 4 on a 10 scale - the typical no concept, tasteless watery stuff on a dough that you find a dime a dozen in so many tourist places), the garlic bread (which was prepared in a microwave! - that's new), and the tortilla (not the real Spanish thing but a decent copy). The service was borderline invasive with the sleazy waiter trying to be funny all the time, probably putting on his gringo show, for the grand finale.
When we asked for the bill, he came over and said in a confidential tone "84"!. No receipt, no bill, no nada. So we started adding up the prices of the items we had consumed, and - what a surprise! - it came out to be 73 soles. Once he saw that we were calculating, he started to write the bill, brought it over and said "oh, no it's a mistake, it's actually 73". Makes you smile wryly, I guess. Such a deja vu in over-touristy Cusco.
Note: there are at least a couple of "Chez Maggy's" on the same street, apparently pizza is prepared centrally, but otherwise each of the places has its own kitchen - so results may vary. Count your...
Read moreI was walking down back from Saqsaywaman and was hungry. Then i say this place got a stone oven. I tried their veggie Pizza for 1 person, since i try to reduce my meat consumption while travelling. I got little suprized how small a pizza to one person is since it costs 24 soles. The second suprize was that there was celery in it. I know maybe i should have read the menu closely, but who puts celery on a pizza. I hate celery but still ended eating it all since i hate more wasting food. But the pizza was rich and thin, which was good. The last negative thing was after i ordered, noone did start with my pizza but 4 employees did just look on each otherw to figure out why the PC to print orders dont work. Later one employee get in the restaurant with some canned peeled tomatoes, so i think the reason they did not start with my pizza was this. But an explanation would be good also an explanation on how big one person pizza is. Maybe i was unlucky but because of my experience i cannot give more than 3 stars. But definetly not cheap comparing with other local...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Chez Maggy pizza in Cusco, and I have to say, it was one of the best pizza experiences I've had.
The pizza was simply amazing - the crust was thin, crispy, and had the perfect amount of chew, while the toppings were fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. We tried the Margherita, and the Hawaiian, and each one was a culinary delight.
The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with rustic wood decor and soft lighting. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and our waiter even took the time to recommend his favorite pizza combinations.
Overall, I highly recommend Chez Maggy pizza to anyone who loves pizza or is looking for a delicious and satisfying meal. It's definitely one of the best pizza places in Cusco, and I can't wait to come back and try more of their...
