Good time but major shotski drama!
Burke and Riley’s has solid drinks (try the 9600 sunset or one of the specialty beers), satisfying appetizers (cordon bleu balls and fried pickles were a hit), a no frills sports bar ambiance, decent entrees, but unfortunately our waitress Bella fell short!
We went for an early Saturday night dinner. Not a holiday weekend and about a third of tables were empty when we arrived. Soon after we were seated (party of 4) we voluntarily moved from a 8 person booth to a 4 person booth so that the waitstaff could seat a larger party in case one happened to come in. We did so without being asked and didn’t receive a thank you, though the waitstaff filled the 8 seater soon afterwards (and likely took home an extra hundred+ in tips because we moved).
Since the restaurant wasn’t busy (6:30pm) and our evening was beginning, we asked about a shotski. Bella our waitress gave an unintelligible explanation about how she didn’t know where the shotski was, she couldn’t go downstairs to try to find it, it was too early for it… who knows. A few minutes later we saw the bartender not busy and checking her phone, so we asked bartender about it. She snapped that they don’t have a shotski and turned around to shuffle around some bottles. Didn’t line up with what we read online, but ok. About 45 minutes later we see Bella walking up the stairs with you guessed it the shot ski - for a group of 4 guys right next to our table… can’t make this stuff up!
We confronted her and Bella again refused us the shotski (as she was literally holding it). Her justification? It was too large to carry around (but it wasn’t when she was serving 4 guys?) and she wasn’t allowed to serve it to us (?). We didn’t argue. But she wouldn’t serve us for the rest of the night, entrees took forever, no drink or water refills, took an hour to get our check. Might’ve been more understandable if it were busy, but it wasn’t a packed house... Bella didn’t want to serve us after we’d called her out. Despite being wronged, we went on to have a great night elsewhere - after all Breck is an awesome place.
Moral of the story: if you’re a 25 year old male that the server finds attractive, you’re in the clear… but if you don’t fit that bill, temper your...
Read moreWhile we understand that the Burke and Riley's staff are trying to accommodate guests with the current Covid-19 restrictions, there is absolutely no reason to treat customers with such disdain and disrespect as we experienced this evening. Let me say first we are not locals, however, we have been coming to Breckenridge for the last 10 years to celebrate Christmas as a family. We have historically visited Burke & Riley's Irish Pub and dropped several hundred $$$ during each visit. During our current stay here in Breckenridge, we have been to several other restaurants and all have been more than courteous and generous while obeying all the current Covid-19 restrictions. In fact, all were very happy to serve our party of 6. We honored all the Covid-19 restrictions as requested and understand the need for such. Apparently, Burke & Riley's Irish pub is not interested in serving people that are not locals. Our party of 6 was ready to purchase drinks and a large take-out order but we were treated so terribly we left and will in all likely hood not return. We understand that these small businesses are doing their best to stay in business during these trying times and we are most happy to help by patronize these establishments. We clearly understand that there are clear operational requirement established by the County and State of Colorado for these establishments to operate during Covid; however, if the employees continue to treat customers with the same disrespect and disdain that we experienced tonight, there will not be enough revenue to continue to stay open inspite Covid-19 limitations. We were offended and are saddened at the behavior exhibited by the...
Read moreMy family and I visit this place every year and have never been treated so poorly. We all understand the necessary protocols due to covid and were being respectful of those requirements. When we arrived (with masks on), the bartender was rude and made it very obvious that she didn’t want us there. There were several tables open outside, but we were told we couldn’t be seated until our full party arrived and that we needed to wait outside. That’s fine, we get it, but it was 7 degrees outside, windy and snowing so we decided to go ahead and seat our partial party. When we told the bartender that we were just going to seat ourselves with half our party, she treated us like children saying, “okay but when they get here, they better not try to sit with you.” So we went to the outside seating area, per the bartenders instructions. Our other members arrived not even two minutes later so we went to go explain why they weren’t able to sit with us. They were speaking to another bartender, who was nicer, but the one behind the bar started yelling at us to, “ GO, GO, GO”!! Let me remind you, we all had our masks on. We eventually left without food or drinks because the whole experience brought us down. We have been coming here for the past 10 years and spend hundreds of dollars on car bombs, food and drinks. It makes me really sad to have an experience like this because everyone else in town has been super friendly. It seems like Burke & Riley’s only wants business from locals. Instead we went to Breckenridge Brewery and spent $200 on food. I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. I hope they read this and try to be nicer and more accommodating to what used to be...
