I forget the older gentleman’s name taking the orders, but he has an accent and is usually extremely nice to me. However, today must’ve not been his day because the most bizarre thing happened to me at the store this evening, and some advice on how to move forward would be greatly appreciated.
This evening, there was a little miscommunication over the phone while I was ordering for pick up, and as a result I ended up receiving the wrong order. After noticing this, and already being back in my apartment, I figured I’d go back to the restaurant to ask if they could fix my order since I live less than a five minute walk from the store — I really should’ve just eaten the chicken!
Long story short, after miserably failing to communicate what I actually wanted, rather than what the older gentleman heard over the phone, I paused the conversation to check in on the emotion in the room — just to let him know that I wasn’t upset, so I directly asked him, “are you upset”, and he replied yes, and went on to emotionally explain why — equating me to being as picky as his wife, and revealing that throughout his entire experience with me coming to the restaurant he has had a hard time. I assumed that things were great between us, but apparently, according to the older gentleman, ordering 1 & 1/2 pound wings, half honey gold and the other lemon pepper, and paying $1 extra to make the order all flats is being too picky.
Once the emotion in the room became too much to bare, and I could see that he was far past being rational and calm, I asked him for a refund. He said sure, and sent me home to get my debit card because I didn’t bring it with me. Once I returned to the restaurant, he told me that he wasn’t going to refund me anything and if I wanted to sue him I should take him to court. He also told me to leave and never return because I cause too much trouble — I have lived in Denver for a little over 3 months, work nearly 12 hours a day, am sort of a recluse, and don’t do much talking to people in general, so I find his assertion asinine, and clearly backed by emotional rage from something he was probably projecting on me during this interaction.
Is refusing to give me a refund after telling me you would legal or illegal? And if it’s the latter, what should I do to make sure this situation is handled...
Read moreI've only eaten here once before tonight, and won't ever be ordering again. The establishment is extremely uninviting, it's very dusty and cluttered with junk, plus the service was rude. I noticed I was paying $10 per sandwich (we bought 3x sandwiches) and asked if they'd raised prices. She said she didn't know. So I placed the order, and while waiting, I checked the price for carryout on Grubhub which is how we'd ordered previously. The sandwiches are $8 ($2 less) if you order takeout from Grubhub. When I pointed this out, she claimed that it's not their website and they don't make the prices. Well, that's inaccurate, the restaurants DO make the prices for Grubhub. She either didn't know and was talking out of her... cheek. Or she just flat out lied. But she was NOT going to adjust the price of my sandwiches. I could have just canceled the order, stepped outside and reordered on Grubhub to save $6, but I didn't think of that through my irritation.
When we got the food, the the bun was soft and tasty... However, the brisket meat was NOT good, it was dry and smothered in sauce, which tasted very generic. The meat serving was super skimpy, like the amount you'd put on a slider, not a big bun. But like I said, I have no complaints about the bun. Don't recommend the place and won't be...
Read moreI was very disappointed as a traveler to the city with my team. This restaurant was recommended for wings. We ordered through uber eats and the wings arrived not fully cooked. We contacted the restaurant and he wanted us to contact Uber Eats (which had nothing to do with the wings being undercooked) but, we did as requested. Uber Eats advised they could not give us a refund. We called the restaurant back and stated we didn't really even want a refund, we simply wanted to come in, bring our team, and enjoy some wings that were prepared properly. The owner went back and forth stating, he could do nothing about it...this was clearly POOR customer service and he continued to say, unfortunately, 'he could do nothing about it" (but did advise he was one of the owners, which reflected poorly on his business). The customers experience is (or should be) very important in any business. Clearly, this was not the priority at this place of business. You were ok saying you could do nothing about it. I believe in supporting small businesses especially during these times; however, I would not recommend or support this business. A refund was issued from Uber Eats but it wasn't about the money for me or my team. They just wanted a great dining experience with some...
