This establishment did not have a clear sign stating their restroom was off limits/not available. I thought nothing of it and went to the usual location of where a restroom is usually located in a store. The path to the restroom was messy, but since this was a hole-in-the-wall store in central Texas (I'm from Austin), I didn't think anything of it and wasn't judging the ambiance back there. When you have to go, you have to go, and don't really think clearly (especially if you're pregnant). The bathroom door looked inviting and even had a wreath on the door. I was super quick in the restroom and heard someone twist the doorknob. When I came out, there was a man and woman who sort of ganged up on me. The man was raising his voice saying "We were going to call the police" and the woman said "you could have sued us". I honestly didn't know I wasn't supposed to use their restroom. Had I seen a sign saying "Private" or "Do not enter" etc... any type of sign, I would not have "disobeyed" it. I sheepishly apologized several times, in shock, and the man said "that doesn't make it better" and kept raising his voice as I tried to gather our group/ 3 others to exit the store as soon as possible. It was a traumatic experience.
Thanks for publicly shaming me in your store, in front of my family and all your customers. I'm sorry if my husband yelled back at you (after I had already hastily left the store) for yelling at his wife. I can guarantee you that I will never set foot in your store again-- I have been a customer in the past, and believe I have used the restroom years ago in the same establishment (I guess it was owned by someone else?). I used to look forward to your store with the nice fabric selection, but never in my life have I been yelled at like that, as if I was a shoplifter! I am a Mystery Shop Manager by profession-- never in my life have I met such insensitive owners/management/employees. There is a right way to handle things with class, and in a factual way, without getting so emotional and raising one's voice and causing a scene.
All that said, for the love of all things in a room, do not use...

Read morewe came in town and were excited to visit this store. When we got there and parked they were closed. We thought since the store was closed we would go ahead and get some dinner across the street. Started to walk away and someone yelled from within the store âyouâll get towedâ. I guess we wonât be going back to shop later when...
