This place is excellent. Sweet tasty and good portions. Only one con. This is not in a good place. Lots of homeless around. If you are with some people don't pass it up. If you are alone at 10pm at night please be cautious. I went with my gf pretty late and she felt a little uneasy. We had no problems but there was alot of not so comfortable things going on around there.
Here is my reaction after the owners response. I have to say I am very dissapointed with the owners response. You expressed that I gave a negative review but did not realize I gave 5 stars. I loved the place which I expressed but I gave my honest opinion of how I felt about the location. You do not know what I saw while I was there. It is not my job to call my congressman to do something about the homeless. The point of reviews is to give your honest opinion and by no means have I given any negative reviews about how your business operates. The food, service and staff were excellent but that does not take away the fact that the location is a area that people may need to be cautious with before they visit. To say have a heart is just ignorant. You do not know me and living in Boston and Hawaii I have been around many homeless people and even volunteer in helping them. You should not insinuate that I believe they are bad people. I have seen many altercations in the past through experience. It does not mean it is going to happen but giving someone a heads up to be cautious is the right thing to do from my perspective. On that note I myself and my gf also walked to your business from the stray pirate and was recommended by others of the location to be cautious. It's not a secret and you can see there are other reviews on here that others also mention this. Our uber driver even mentioned it when we were picked up and he also stated that he hopes the city does something about it. The fact is I knew about this before I went and it did not stop me from going to your business. I really enjoyed the custard and have been wanting to go for a while. Unfortunetly I'm not sure I will return after the owners personal comment of me not having a heart and karma coming back to me. I am a business owner myself and the owners response is not how I would have responded. You could have easily said thank you for your 5 star review and we are aware of the homeless situation and are hoping the state works on it. Attacking me and being so defensive was just inappropriate. The intention of my review was not to be negative and to give my honest opinion and thats what I did. I gave 5 stars and said it was excellent. I live in Hawaii and we are about aloha here but it doesn't mean there are not some areas to be cautious about. Please take the positive from my review and stop focusing on the negative. I will say it one more time. I really enjoyed luv it frozen custard. The food, service and staff were...
Read moreThere's a certain charm to discovering a new spot for a sweet treat, a small indulgence that can brighten an afternoon. On my recent travels, I found myself drawn to a local frozen custard shop, a place promising a scoop of creamy bliss. While the frozen custard itself was a delightful experience, the visit came with a few caveats that left me with mixed feelings.
Atmosphere and Setting
The shop is tucked away in what seemed to be a fairly unassuming location. As I approached, the first thing that struck me was the parking lot. It felt a bit... edgy. There were a number of individuals lingering in the area who appeared to be experiencing homelessness. While I always strive to be compassionate, their presence gave the place an uncomfortable vibe, making me think twice about visiting after dark. It's a shame, as a great dessert is best enjoyed in a setting where you feel completely at ease.
The Main Event: Food and Drinks
Now, let's get to the star of the show: the frozen custard. I opted for a three-topping sundae, a classic choice to truly get a feel for what the place offers. And I must say, the custard itself was fantastic. It was incredibly creamy, with a rich, smooth texture that spoke of quality ingredients. The flavor was pure and simple, exactly what you'd hope for in a classic frozen custard. The toppings were fresh and complemented the custard well, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.
However, the portion size was a significant point of contention. The serving was surprisingly small, especially for the price. At over $7 for a tiny sundae, it felt like a splurge that didn't quite deliver on value. While the quality was undoubtedly high, the quantity left me wanting more, which isn't the best feeling after shelling out a considerable amount for a dessert.
Price and Value
This is where the review gets a bit tricky. The price point is steep. Over $7 for a small three-topping sundae feels disproportionate, even for gourmet dessert. I understand that high-quality ingredients and a specialized product often come at a premium, but the small serving size makes it a difficult pill to swallow. It felt like I was paying for a luxurious experience but receiving a very modest portion.
Conclusion
So, is this frozen custard spot worth a visit? It's a qualified "yes." The quality of the frozen custard is genuinely excellent, and if you're in the immediate vicinity and craving a truly good scoop, you won't be disappointed by the taste. However, the high price for a small portion and the less than ideal parking lot atmosphere are significant drawbacks. I would not recommend making a special trip from far away just for this. It's a decent spot for a quick, sweet treat if you happen to be in the neighborhood, but it's not a...
Read moreI don’t LUV-IT anymore. Sadly. I used to recommend this place to everyone who comes to town, but I can’t say I was impressed this visit and it will likely be my last. $15 for my boyfriend and I to get two half-filled sundae cups (they were over $6 each, plus tax it came out to over $14 but under $15. I did not get my receipt.) It’s good but sheesh. I was hesitant when I heard the price (which aren’t posted anywhere I looked all over the windows, I was surprised by the price when I ordered.) Convinced myself to just get it and that it would be worth it cause it’s so good and the cup behind the register looked big for the price. Think again! What I got was a half a scoop floating in my selected marshmallow topping! The topping actually was flat, cause there was so little ice cream, in the cup, it just pooled over the top. I expected a cup filled with custard, some marshmallow over the top, and some whipped cream to top it off, you know, a Sundae! No whipped cream, that is considered an extra topping you have to pay more per topping beyond 1.. LOL It literally looked like I got served someones leftovers! Staff was nice, they don’t accept cash unfortunately which is a huge negative for me. And the area has gotten super seedy. Gangsters and homeless everywhere. Plus, I have read some of the other reviews and the owner who comments back to people leaves really unprofessional responses and gaslights people which just rubs me the wrong way. They may say it’s sad that I took the time to leave a review; however, my hard earned money is important to me and if I feel like what I got wasn’t worth it, I want to leave that feedback to warn others. If you’re also a born and raised Las Vegan, visiting Luv-Its on the reputation of the past, you may be disappointed. That’s all. Hope this helps someone save $7 on a sorry excuse for a sundae. Thank you...
