The only good thing about this place is that it looks clean and inviting.
We ordered 3 different entries and all three were trash. Beef kebab dry, chewy and disgusting.
Lamb Kebab dry and disgusting.
Shwarma plate, ordered with fries instead of rice. They put fries under the meat making fries soggy and unedible.
The shwarma itself was dried out rubbery chewy ash. Mostly consisting of leftover silverskin and ligaments and chunks of fat which they probably cut off of other meat. I get that sometimes you get a rubbery piece, but the whole platter was just rubbery pieces of unidentified mass. It did not even look like shwarma, it looked like ground beef.
The garlic sauce was some milky goo with dried dill and no gralic.
Grilled onions, they did not even cut off the roots. Grilled peppers barely touched the heat of the grill. They were raw. Cilantro was chopped with all of the stems. In fact there were more hard stems then leaves.
The pitta wraps were dry and rough and not even warmed up.
The only good thing was the hummus. It was actually really good, but not worth $20.
Let along that there was a misscommunication between the sales girl and the cheff and they messed up our order and were apparently redoing it. Out of three ordered dishes they messed up two. So they left one prepped dish to wait and get cold on the counter while they were redoing the other two.
No one came to tell us why it was taking so long, we were just sitting there for over 30 minutes waiting, while the cheff was taking his time yelling at the girl, instead of taking his time to prepare our food.
I actually had to walk up to them and ask them to stop yelling and start cooking.
No one appologized, no concessions were offered. They all looked at me as if I was a bother.
We were the only customers in the restaurant.
I don't like throwing away food, but we could not eat that stuff and we threw most away.
Bathroom was out of toilet paper and hand towel dispenser was sitting on top of the closet instead of hanging on the wall. The hand towel roll was also on top of the closet. After washing hands, it took a...
Read moreI’m not new to Mediterranean restaurants in LA. There are many up and down Sunset Blvd. Some I’ve reviewed, others I’ve eaten at but didn’t feel the need to review. Ara’s Shawarma demands a review! It is in a league of its own. It’s not a white table cloth restaurant but it serves 5 star food, solid presentation and has an excellent chocolate strawberry dessert! Yes that is a chocolate fountain!
I noticed this place on a trip to Home Depot and earmarked it for a visit. I was so impressed by this place. They offer fresh, marinated and cooked to order Mediterranean wraps, sandwiches, plates and bowls. With a variety of meat choices. You can choose from Chicken, Pork, Lula, Lamb, Chicken Shawarma, Beef Shawarma and even falafel! It’s insane how many options they have.
We settled on the Lamb Chops and Beef Kebab plates. The lamb was so deliciously marinated. I could taste the flavor all the way to the bone! The rice was fluffy and soaked up the juices from the lamb meat on top, the humus had more lumpiness to it but it still tasted great with the pita. They also offer a side cabbage salad that would probably fair better with something like a lemon or vinegar on it but again the star of the show was the meats!
Scratch that the star of the show was the price. I don’t know where you can get a proper lamb chop plate for under $20. I do now. I also tried a couple bites of the beef kebab and it was as good as the lamb. But my next trip I’m ordering the pork chops! Truth is with so many options you can’t choose wrong. Ara’s is a great new addition to the Sunset Blvd. Mediterranean Restaurant Scene and its setting itself...

I never thought I’d say this, but I lost 16 pounds in just one month eating at Aras Shawarma—twice a day! Their chicken pita shawarma is absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and surprisingly satisfying without being heavy. I paired it with a young coconut in the morning and evening, and the results blew me away.
The quality of the chicken is top-notch, the flavor is consistently amazing, and the pita is always fresh. What I appreciate most is that it never feels greasy or overly processed—it’s clean, real food that fuels you.
Not only did I feel better physically, but I actually looked forward to every meal. Aras Shawarma became my daily ritual, and honestly, it made healthy eating effortless and enjoyable.
Huge shout-out to the team for keeping the quality high and the vibes great. If you're in Hollywood and want something that tastes incredible and can even help you drop weight if you're consistent—this is the...
