Firehouse Subs LA Downtown — Restaurant in Los Angeles

This location of Firehouse is always amazing. Clean, friendly and accurate orders every single time. I used to work near a different Firehouse in South Florida that I used to skip due to constant poor experiences. This Firehouse in DTLA turned me around because they are consistently excellent and friendly. I take my food to go as I live nearby but the place is truly the cleanest restaurant that I have seen in years and is never dirty. The staff is always friendly and they are fast with the turnaround on your order but that doesn't mean that your order is incorrect. Not at all. I order all of the time from this location and have for nearly 2 years now. Several times a month, sometimes more frequently and of the many, many times that I have ordered, perhaps 3 times there has been something small that isn't correct. I mean perhaps a pickle on the side when it shouldn't be. And I end up eating the persons pickle and they don't get upset because it is on the side. I just wanted to mention it so you know that this is an honest review. I don't get to write reviews like this anymore because quality everywhere has gone downhill. Esp since the pandemic. However, not at this Firehouse. This place is the one restaurant that I don't worry about my order or the quality of the food. It is constantly great and that is why I am writing all of this and not just giving it 5 stars. This place is the one consistent place to eat great food served by a friendly team with quality ingredients. Now I sound like an ad. LOL. Trust me, eat here i get the Italian and my other half gets the Italian and also the Steak & Cheese. We love them and the cookies are always great! Oatmeal...

I knew I was gambling yesterday once I placed my online order before leaving work. As I'm biting into my sandwich start eating and felt something was off. So I opened my sandwich and seen a HARD piece of lettuce on my sandwich. If I wanted a salad, I would've ordered a salad! I'm definitely avoiding this Firehouse location moving forward. I tried to give them another chance and they failed with my sandwich thats trying to be salad.

I usually don't do this but once the guy behind the counter looked at me stupid and said I could've said it better after explaining that my order I placed last Friday wasn't cooked all the way through. I just told him on Friday I placed an order and the loaded potato soup wasn't done. Explain to him the potatoes weren't done at all. Told him it wasn't cooked long enough because it was HARD and I had to throw my food away. He completely got an attitude from his body language. So as I was walking out I said something again, I know it probably wasn't you but I was just telling you. Then he showed his true colors by saying I could've said it better? Like huh? Just for me informing you that I was sold some food that wasn't DONE all the way is crazy! He acted like I wanted a hand out or a freebie. I got a free medium sub for my birthday so I decided to try their new prime rib steak sub. I ordered it online and came in for pick up. The sub was ready and sitting on the rack with my name on it. It was a weekday at lunchtime & the place was full so I recommend ordering ahead of time. The prime rib steak sub was definitely better than the previous subs we tried. There's enough flavor for the sub to be good but for people who love umami, it was too subtle. Maybe if they added more caramelized onions, more of the flavors could have come out. I split the medium sub with my husband which wasn't enough to keep me full so I split a smoothie with him as well. Overall: 4.4/5 (to go pick up)

I came in to order in person and it took about 5-10 minutes before I got my sandwich. I ordered the Hook & Ladder on wheat bread then added a drink/chip combo for an additional $2.99. You can choose whichever chip and drink you want and it's self-serve.
