On the outskirts of Thai town, and south of Franklin Blvd. You’ll see a little street sprinkled with small eateries and store fronts. Amongst them you will find Bolt. It’s a handsome building, with beautiful marquee letters that display the cafes name.
The interior is just as nice. The rustic industrial feel, with tall ceilings gives it a wide open space feel. Loved the interior design and appreciated the cute little outdoor patio in the back. They had a variety of breakfast foods and lunch options on their menu.
I ordered the breakfast pasta, and my husband ordered the chilaquiles. Both looked promising and we were very excited to try the food.
My breakfast pasta was pretty good. Reminded me of an omelette with bits of pasta mixed in. The bits of bacon and sausage were delicious. Though it didn’t look it, it was actually quite filling. The chilaquiles (which were on the special menu) on the other hand were absolutely horrible. Not at all what a chilaquiles is supposed to be. Horrible chips that rivaled those from a gas station. It lacked the beans, the flavor, and everything about it tasted like it came out of a can.
Seems the dishes here are a bit of a gamble, so pick wisely. It’s a beautiful place to spread out, study or meet up for some pastries or coffee. But not quite sure the food is up to...
Read moreI genuinely hate posting reviews less than four stars. Usually if I don't like a place, I say nothing. I do however want to give my honest feedback. I come here a lot and will in the future purely for the sake of convenience and atmosphere. For me, Bolt is lacking a lot in terms of quality (specialty drinks, food, baked goods). Every time I order a cappuccino, I receive... a latte. It tastes good, but it's never what I want. (If you're looking for a perfect cappuccino, go across the street to I Panini Di Ambra.) The breakfast burrito is the only thing on the menu I've ever enjoyed but even that is hit or miss. I've had a few of the bowls and they have also been very bland. I've ordered from the baked case many times and have been consistently disappointed (shame on me). The muffin I received the other day was so bad, it motivated me to write this review. It just tasted like flour. Seemed as though they straight up forgot to add sugar and butter. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong things, but should bad things be on the menu? Fine place for a coffee (not a cappuccino) and a place to hang out. But if you're visiting the area and looking for food, I would not...
Read moreI really like Bolt’s manager, and their cookies and coffee are fantastic. But today I had a negative experience with a barista who opened with “The kitchen is closed,” before she even said hi. She then refused to make a chai latte, which I’d had there before. When I pointed that out, she conceded that she could “kind of make one if you liked it.” I figured she just didn’t want to make one, so I bought a bottle of Kambucha. My friend and I sat down and worked for about an hour, expecting to stay until 6 (what’s listed here as closing time.) At 5, the same barista told us we needed to leave because they were closing. I said we’d read 6pm on Google, and she said it was wrong. I suggested they change the listing so it wouldn’t be a problem in the future, and she said they weren’t in charge and couldn’t do that. (I’ve worked in the service industry for 10 years, and know for a fact that you can change the hours of operation on a Google page.) I told her I was just trying to help, and we left. But from top to bottom it was such a negative experience it made me want to avoid Bolt...
