(Please be advised, the following experience happened on a Sunday night and is NOT meant to discredit the experiences of the Friday/Saturday party crowd)
My husband and I were greeted and seated immediately by very friendly hostesses. Our waitress, Taylor, brought us waters within 5 minutes and apologized for the wait (although we did not feel like it was a long time). I ordered the Chicken and Waffles, my husband ordered the Mac n Cheese dish. My dish was amazing: crispy/crunchy chicken with a hint of herbs and a slight kick (NOT to be confused with Hot Chicken), a waffle that was crunchy on the outside and soft/buttery in the middle, CRISPY bacon and all drizzled in SWEET syrup. My husband's dish was also great (I had to taste it for... scientific reasons 😉): almost Italian-like sauce, the hard bake on the Mac was present, the chicken was nicely baked without being raw, and the bacon bits he added made it crunchy. The breadstick that came with his dish was also buttery and delicious! For dessert they have: cotton candy, a skillet chocolate chip/peanut butter/nut cookie with ice cream on it, and house peach cobbler. We were too full to try ordering one of these because our portions were huge and we already had to take left overs in boxes. Taylor was so friendly and even gave us suggestions as to where we could venture on Broadway to continue our Nashville visit. We ate on the main floor in front of the stage and the music was not that loud at all. We were able to carry on conversations without yelling. We visited the rooftop and saw the lovely views everyone raved about. The firepits and band up there plus the esthetic of the entire 3 level restaurant (not including the basement) were just the right added touch.
Again, we were here on a Sunday night. I kept my purse with my husband's phone and wallet attached to my body in my mini strap purse, yet felt no need to do so. It was a very relaxed crowd with just enough energy to hoot n holler over the football game and to cheer the live band on. Nobody was handsy, nor did I feel like I was about to be robbed at any point. So, if you're a tourist and would like to visit this bar WITHOUT being mugged or harassed as a female or just for a family outing, just skip the normal obnoxious weekend crowd and come on Sunday!
Btw, the parking area next to the restaurant is a flat $15 hourly UNLESS there's a special event which will rack it up to $35. We parked at the garage by the Wild Beaver karaoke club 1 block away which was more...
Read moreRight in the heart of downtown Nashville, and conveniently right by The Johnny Cash Museum, this is a big space to service many patrons from the first floor to the roof. Whether you want to eat, drink or listen to live music, Aldean's delivers all three in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Rather than wait fifteen minutes for a table, we chose to sit at the big rectangular bar where liquor was flowing before noon. This is the kind of place where people speak freely with each other from their seats and we were happy to converse with our fellow diners.
We each had a special menu drink named "The Truth," with gin, cranberry juice, lime and soda. I ordered the catfish and chips and my partner ordered the hot chicken sandwich. Both were very good. The nice young woman who sat next to me with her boyfriend, and was happy to have just turned twenty-one and show her I.D., said she was going to order just what I did it looked so good.
Another woman catty-cornered to my partner hearing we were headed for Memphis, interjected we go see the ducks at The Peabody Memphis, a luxury hotel downtown. The famed Peabody Ducks are led by the duckmaster up and down the elevator from their rooftop dwelling to walk down a red carpet to the marble fountain in the lobby. This ritual can be seen at 11 a.m. and five p.m. She felt we had to add this to our to-do list. We agreed it sounded fun but time did not allow this trip.
A high ceiling over the bar shows a glass encased showcase of different premium brand alcohols. Upper level tables look down at the screen or stage when there's a show. A live band was playing on the roof which we could hear playing after we finished our meal and headed down the busy street.

Read moreBar is very cool, food was great, waitress was great. The one thing that ruined the entire visit was the "Manager". We had been upstairs having drinks, then reserved a table for 9 of us. When we got called they had 2 separate tables, but we all fit on one so we gave the second table up. As we were about to be finished with our food, another couple that had been with us showed up and we asked our waitress if we could have a couple more chairs, which she graciously said yes and brought them two us. Just as our two late guests had received their food a lady (the "manager") walks up and tells us we have too many people at the table and we would need to split them up, we tried to explain our case but she was adamant that we could not have 11 chairs at this table (even though their waitress said ok and brought them to us). We tried to explain that our friends had showed up late and just got their food and we would leave as soon as they finished eating. She could care less and was very stern that they needed to remove two chairs and we could stand if we wanted. Here is the kicker to it.... she took the two chairs and brought them to the backroom!!! Did not need them for other guest, which there were a few empty tables throughout the place so our 2 chairs were not keeping anyone from sitting down. Our total bill was over $500 with the tip, and this so called "Manager" could have cared less. Loved the place, but was ruined by one person with an ego trip. If that is there policy i understand, then they need to train their people better, if your team screws up then live up to it and fix it so it doesn't happen again. But don't take it out on good paying customers because you feel you have...
