A Hidden Gem That Feels Like Home..
BARTOLO'S...
Tucked away next to a gas station where you'd never think to look, this unassuming spot is hands-down the most authentic Mexican restaurant I've discovered. Don't let the location fool you – step inside and you're transported into what feels like a oppulent family's dining room, complete with beautiful décor and the warmth of genuine hospitality. Everything here is made from scratch, and you can taste the difference in every single bite. From the handcrafted cocktails to the perfectly seasoned mains to desserts, this kitchen doesn't take shortcuts. The cooking is deeply authentic – not the Tex-Mex you find everywhere else, but the real deal that makes you close your eyes and savor each flavor. This is exactly the kind of neighborhood treasure that deserves to be packed every night. The owners have created something truly special here, serving food with love and pride. If you live nearby, you owe it to yourself to become a regular. Places like this are rare, and we need to support them before they become another casualty of being too good for their own good.Five stars – and I'll be back next week.
I never write reviews.. I am a total foody, I have eaten at every global Michelin star.. please go support this place. I would be devastated if it was gone! They have a great happy hour, and its super...
Read moreAfter a concert at Terminal 5 with my nephew, we started walking downtown while trying to catch a taxi. We were very hungry but decided to wait until we got closer to my hotel near Penn. We passed a restaurant that had an open window and the gentlemen sitting there gave us a big smile and waved hi and we did the same. We found out later that they worked there. They were such a unexpected ray of friendliness at 10pm that we decided on the spot to eat there.
This was our intro to Bartolo's :) And it didn't disappoint! The service was caring and excellent and the food was delicious. There was even an amuse-bouche! I had the artichoke quesadilla, mashed plaintains, and a tamarind drink, all of which were unique and so yummy!
The dishes are so authentic and there are a wide selection of drinks. Any of the many margarita flavors are a must as they come with an amazing homemade sweet and spicy chili "salt" for the rim that should be bottled and sold on its own!
I highly recommend this new restaurant. I had a great chat with one of the owners and they are passionate about creating a friendly, down to earth atmosphere of family, friends, and fostering great relationships. For me they did that before we even walked in the door! Be sure to ask them about the history, meaning, and lore of this...

Very welcoming staff, explained the menu well. We came because of the reviews which were excellent and they didn't fail to disappoint.
We were offered some complimentary snacks which was thoughtful and kind. I thoroughly enjoyed my food, had the tortilla with guacamole as a shared platter and the pollo quesadillas as a main. The kids had the shrimps and said it was lovely with a bit of a kick for those who are not used to spices. The meals were freshly made, delicious and of generous portions.
They were not many people, it's a newly opened restaurant and deserves to be made known. Hopefully an influencer could pick on this too and bring in the crowd as their social media and website are not yet in operation.
I wish the restaurant owner and his team the best in their...
