PIG & WHISTLE!! I couldn't think of a more fitting name for this establishment. My party and I entered this despicable place after our performance nearby. There were 8 of us as we wanted to grab a bite nearby. Upon our entrance, we noticed that they were SEVERAL EMPTY TABLES in view. Hence we asked whether there were any seats for our party. It was then that the hostess quickly interjected to say that she "Would be unable to seat us UNLESS EVERYONE was going to order food". We quickly explained that the majority of us indeed wanted to order food and a few of us were only going to get drinks. It was then that this Irish hostess looked at our majority black party and DEMANDED unless we all ordered food she would not be able to seat us. Needless to say we were all in shocked that we were being refused seating because two of us only wanted a drink. Hence we inquired why we couldn't still sit? And the hostess said IT WAS...
Read moreCool pub with great location in Manhattan between MSG and Times Square. The pub is actually very nice as far as look and feel, decor etc. There were lots of TVs to catch different games. We went on Sunday to see the Cowboys play and the World Cup was just ending. The menu is very basic with the typical bar food. The prices are pretty high but it is Manhattan. They were out of about half of the appetizer items when we went. Evidently they had a big party for the World Cup. We had the French onion soup which was actually very good but only Luke warm. The salads were OK and the chicken wings were what you would expect. The reason for the 3 stars is the service. We waited. Probably 15 minutes to even get a waiter and about the same time to get water and our first cocktail. If you are in the area and want to catch a game, I would recommend. You will definitely not be blown away with the food or...
Read moreIt is sad that we have to give this place a 1 star as the food and drinks were quite good. However, we had a gigantic cockroach crawl while we were sitting there on the cushions and we saw afterwards that the outside was teeming with gigantic cockroaches as well. You can check out the photo and the videos.
When we raised the issue to our waitress, she said that it is NYC and cockroaches happen. She asked us if we were visiting and said that it is normal for outsiders to be shocked. As a couple who had previously lived in NYC for 2 years, this is the first time we saw something like this and quite frankly, it cannot be okay anywhere that you get a gigantic cockroach come to share your food while you are sitting there.
Overall, the management needs to do something about this as we became quite doubtful about the hygienic standards in which our nice food...
