This was the second time that I have been to Lee's Wok. The first time we were turned away for seated dining, even though it was 40 minutes from closing time. We were told that we could order to go only. We left, not happy with the way we were treated.
So I decided to try again. I called to verify hours, and we went in early evening.
I enjoy combination plates, as I like many different items. I picked a 4 item combination, however I needed to modify it. 3 of the 4 items were made made with pork, I don't eat pork. I noticed that the 3 items that were made with pork were also available with chicken instead. I asked to substitute chicken for the pork and was told that there would be a $3 dollar charge. I questioned that because the chicken items were priced lower than the pork items. She would not budge, so I agreed, begrudgingly to pay the extra unnecessary charges. I shop for groceries and have managed large restaurants, I know as everyone who buys groceries knows, Chicken is cheaper than Pork.
When the food came, and it was quick, I was amazed at the portions. Definitely enough for 2. The food was served hot and fresh. The chicken I requested and paid for was there in abundance. Sweet and Sour chicken was outstanding, tender with just the right amount of tempura breading. The fried rice was delicious and had a good amount of chicken. The chow mein was very fresh yet did not have enough vegetables, too much chicken. The tempura shrimp were old, dry, and overcooked.
My husband had Broccoli Beef which he was pleased with. He asked for the vegetables be cooked longer, as he has no teeth, and it was still a bit undercooked for him. Again the portion was excessive.
The food is served hot and fresh. The service is marginal to be kind. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. The prices are modest and appropriate.
I will have to seriously consider returning. The extra charges and the rude way the waitress conveyed it, didn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Perhaps take out is a better option. Just don't make any special requests. Service and attitude are...

My husband and I ordered from here last year in December and truly enjoyed the food so we decided to order again today when we arrived for a weekend getaway. The food was HORRIBLE!! The pork was over cooked and dry, the shrimp was overly battered (more bread then shrimp by a long shot), the shrimp fried rice was bland (we actually had to add salt and pepper), the paper wrapped chicken was inconsistently cooked with some being way to salty and others tasting okay, the egg roll was HUGE (like 3-4” in diameter and like 9” long). The worst however was that it had nearly a half an inch of some weird batter (it was not egg roll paper) with little to no filling. The beef and veggie was slimy, some of the vegetables were WAY over cooked and others were severely undercooked. Normally, a restaurant will give a small side of sweet and sour sauce, hot mustard, etc., however, when I first pulled out the sweet and sour sauce container, I thought they had provided us with soup!! It was very heavy and I would say at least 12oz worth... We tried our best to choke down some of the foods, but in the end decided it just wasn’t worth it. The care with which the food was cooked (and in my opinion there was none... hell I make better fried rice), we worried that proper food handling issues might be occurring in the restaurant and we could get food poisoning. I don’t know if management changed or what but it was and is the worst food I have ever had. It was a waste of good money on really, REALLY BAD food. For those looking for delivery while in Newport, look elsewhere. We will be from here on out.
I would post photos but I...
Read moreMe and my husband came here for our honeymoon, it’s right next to our hotel and so it was an easy choice. This place, first off, was very friendly. They accommodated us to the fullest extent. They have amazing hot tea and they’re very attentive. They give you space but always know exactly when you need something else. The people were SO friendly. The portion sizes are SO big. 25 dollars basically got us two meals but with leftovers it’s 4 meals! This place, I could tell, was amazing as soon as I walked in and saw how busy it was! I ordered the chicken in orange sauce (orange chicken) and it was a big order. For only 12.50 I have a meal for two days. The orange chicken was so beautiful. It was so tangy and sweet! I didn’t order the sweet and spicy one, just the sweet one. It had some orange slices in it, the skin part, and even the skin tasted amazing. I thought it would be hard chicken to chew because the way it looked, deep fried, that it would be hard by the time I chewed it. To my surprise, it was so tender and juicy for something that looked like the frying made the meat hard, it was shockingly tender. I would highly recommend this place! I can’t remember what my husband got but it was also a big portion since, the chicken was tender AND the onions were perfectly ripe. They gave us a huge bowl of rice, and it was beautifully cooked...
