I've ordered more pickup than eaten here, to preface.
Good food, slightly inconsistent but still a place on my list of local eats bc of their decent lunch menu and being open on the weekends/past 5PM. The deviled eggs are as you know them, with good extra large eggs and choice of shrimp or bacon, also the stuffed mushrooms (cold) is solid too. Had a bite of the lobster alfredo and it was okay. The house burger I ordered for dinner was a sausage patty so I think either they served me a brunch burger or their house burger is a sausage burger. Not sure which.
Their mushroom risotto tastes good enough and is very cheesy, just a little too salty so I would get it with no chicken or shrimp; same experience with their lemon risotto. I had the filet and it was cooked according to temp and the meat was well butchered, the rest of the entree was pretty mid. Not a fan of their salmon but try the Chilean sea bass with the Salmon entree sides instead. Their asparagus has always been overcooked when I get it as a side which is unfortunate.
The atmosphere is cool, it's small and wedged in the corner of a federal building, they have TVs and a generous bar area with half a dozen tables. It is hole in the wall in terms of space but decorated with a wood/brass/glass aesthetic that is recognizable. The wait staff is polite. It really seems like a spot for lawyers and energy workers given the menu options under the new management (RIP Clam Chowder and Lobster Roll), and most significantly: the prices, which leads me to my conclusion.
Their prices are a bit too high (even with a supposed discount, their online prices might be incorrect as well). Since they can produce good food, and their ingredients are of decent quality (if you're charging $35 for a filet with mashed potatoes, at least tell us what grade it is). I have to give them a 3/5 which I think is generous for food this expensive yet...
ย ย ย Read moreService was terrible. They had too many tables crammed in the small space so I was seated on the spot where two booth cushions met against the wall. There was a giant gap between the cushions and a beam on the wall behind me so I could never get comfy. Waited a long time to get our order taken. Took a long time to come out but then we got our 1-3 courses all within 5 minutes of each other so we had 6 plates crammed on our tiny table while we were still trying to eat our salads. After dessert we had to wait a very long time to have a waiter remember we existed so we could ask for our check. Took a long time for him to bring it to us, even longer for him to come back to grab it, and even longer still for him to just swipe our card and bring it back so we could leave. The check process took at least 30 minutes all the while I could see another couple standing off to the side waiting for a table. I watched our waiter make drinks, run food, and 10 other things instead of just checking us out so we could leave. Oh they also forgot steak knives exist and are needed and that humans need water refills. My favorite course was my brownie and ice cream but was definitely not worth the $70 for the 2+ hour event. They also had a vegan entree but no vegetarian/vegan options for the appetizer or vegan for the dessert..? If you have a 4 course ordeal, maybe donโt throw in one vegan option haphazardly if you arenโt going to accommodate for any of the other coursesโฆ My back actually hurts today from having to sit awkwardly and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait. They thanked us for being SO patient but itโs not like we had a choice either way lol. Not planning on...
