It was my first time going to this place as I was out for a girls’ night with some friends.
Upon first entering, the atmosphere has nice dim lighting that isn’t too dark or light. The chairs we sat at were super comfortable too and were relaxing to lounge in as we waited for food.
Obviously, this place is higher end so don’t expect to pay less than $50 a meal if you really want to eat. I personally did not get any cocktails but my friends got some mocktails and cocktails that tasted pretty good! Unfortunately, our service pertaining to getting alcoholic drinks ended up making most of the night awkward. Everyone at the table was 25 and up, but some girls didn’t want to drink so they opted for mocktails. When my friend (who is 31 y.o), asked for an alcoholic cocktail, the server had made it seem like her ID was fine and walked off to put in the drink orders. Moments later though, the manager came up to the table and told my friend that our server didn’t believe she was of age and asked to see her ID again. We kind of understood how it may be suspicious as some of our friends had asked for mocktails and we just naturally look young, but it feels inappropriate to be doing this at an expensive restaurant that we were planning to spend a good amount of money at. I just felt it could have been handled more smoothly like the server maybe taking the ID when she first checked it and saying she needed to scan it instead of giving it back and asking the manager to come over after such an accusation. After it was resolved, it was strange to have the same waitress serve us after being falsely accused of being underage.
Besides the beginning incident, the rest of the dinner was pretty solid. Although, if we didn’t get an appetizer, we would have been waiting for our food for maybe an hour. The free rolls were toasted and salted to perfection. Between 5 of us, we shared the Seafood Tower which the market price for that night was $150. The portion was large and it took us a bit of time to finish it. All parts of the seafood tower were good. Definitely would get again if I was in a group setting. For my entree, I opted for the 8oz Wagyu Skirt Steak at Medium Rare w/ Bernaise and a side of mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection for me and the potatoes were fluffy and buttery. Mind you, the portion for the sides were huge, so I recommend maybe sharing different sides with other people if in a group. I tried some of my friends’ entrees and some of them were average tasting. The short rib ravioli tasted yummy but it definitely needs a side for you to be satisfied. The roasted mushrooms were cooked deliciously and I would recommend them if you’re looking for a vegetable. On elotes, it was good but I felt I could get better at an authentic mexican restaurant. Still, large portions of sides so you really get your money’s worth.
Afterwords, our group did end up getting a dessert to share for 5! Desserts were around $10-$15 and were a decent portion so definitely worth it! We got a Bread Pudding that was absolutely delicious. The only criticism I would say is that the top of the bread pudding could have had a bit more crust but I would definitely get it again or try another dessert.
They were nice enough to box our food and give us a little bag of some granola/dessert crumble at the end of the meal to which my friend that has been there before said they give a free dessert gift at the end of the meal usually.
Overall, I would give this place a chance again. If that incident about the ID didn’t happen, my score would have been higher, but I do think as an expensive establishment, please handle these type of situations better in the future instead of just putting blame on...
Read moreWhen I tell y'all this was a PHENOMENAL experience!! From the food to the service to the ambiance- everything was impeccable. Our server, Luke, was a complete Rockstar and the voice of bad decisions (but in the best way possible.)
We started off requesting a Weller 12 neat for Martin, which they didn't have, so after the Whiskey Curator visited with 3 bottles he opted for a Doc Holiday and I tried their Mezcal Margarita- a smokey delight. We also ordered a steak tar tar to start with- a household favorite and a highly anticipated menu item. As we waited on the tar tar, they brought out these delicious, pillow-y rolls served up in a cast iron pan and sprinkled with a healthy serving of sea salt. No butter needed for these light as air yet still buttery and flavorful rolls.
The steak tar tar was magnificent and as delectable as that of 610 Magnolia . While cut more coarsely, the flavors were robust. The seeded mustard brought in unexpected layers and hints of sesame simultaneously accented and rounded out the vinegar of the mustard. Served up with a sesame type "cracker," it was the dish that I never wanted to end.
That flavor profile was in my dreams.
For the main course, Martin switched to a Mister Sam neat (remenicent of a toasted flan, in my humble opinion) while I went for the suggested Millionaire cocktail (Same Old Moses PX Bourbon Grand Marnier, Lemon, Foam). I admit that I was not a fan and took the opportunity to catch up on my water intake.
For our meal, Martin enjoyed the garlic crusted Delmonico Ribeye with scallops and a side of whiskey butter. I opted for the garlic crusted Snake River American Wagyu, Manhattan Strip, with crab and a side of the Whiskey butter. For sides, we opted for truffle fries (served with a delicious lemon (?) aioli), brussel sprouts (with bacon and a cider glaze), and macaroni & cheese (each noodle stuffed with fontina, parmesan & aged cheddar plus jalapeno crumbs on top.)
Oh my!!!
Every single bite was delicious!!! The steaks were melt in your mouth tender, scallops were golden perfection, and the asparagus garnish was the best prepared asparagus of my life. The truffle fries had the perfect flavor of truffle, garlic, and parmesan with bits of sea salt and the most amazing aioli!! The Macaroni and Cheese was irresistible and cheesy in the best way possible, without being overwhelming. And those brussel sprouts!!! Oh my. Sweet, Smoky, and a touch of Vinegar cooked perfectly so they had a slight crunch and yet still melted in our mouth.
We finished up with a bourbon ice (wow!) and cake- the chocolate espresso and coconut and passion fruit. The bourbon ice was impeccable, but I admit that I was not a fan of either dessert. I found them both to be fairly tasteless, but Martin seemed to enjoy them. At that point, I should have orders something to cleanse my palate and foresee myself trying dessert again on our next visit.
A phenomenal visit overall and worth every single penny that we spent. We are already planning our next trip and booked reservations before we departed.
Thank you for giving us such a memorable 20th...
Read moreOn 7th May at 7 pm. I made a reservation for 2 people to attend the wine paring. I requested a booth for a date night with my husband. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time and hang out at the bar waiting for table. At 7.15 pm. the host came to talk to my husband and brought us to a big round table that sits 6 people, then the hostess brought 2 more guest come sit with us. This really confused me so I asked my husband what happened and why do we have to share table with another people that we don’t know for our date with a special meal that we have to pay $270++. I looked around and saw 2 small tables that seemed to available, when I went to ask the host if we can get another table, I explained to them about my reservation and that I was not comfortable to share table like this. It didn’t make sense to make a reservation for a nice dinner thats quite expensive and have to sit with strangers. 2 of hosts told me that table I asked about was being saved for a party of 8 people. Then on this time have 1 more host came in and ask what was going on. I explain to her again but she was incredibly rude and not friendly at all. She told me that area was for the event wine paring guest and I told her yes I know because I made reservation for that event. When she know that she told me again that for the 8 people and try to ignore me. I look at her and waiting to see if she will have another choice for me because there were 2-3 more tables that almost done. If she give me a choice to wait for another table I would have been be ok, but she turn to me and said “Do you understand what I say? Or I think you don’t understand !!!” In a rude tone, that’s when my patients was done. I’m Asian and yes english is not my mother language, but I understand what she said and understand more why she said that word to me. Then I told her you should not talk to me like this and should be nice because I didn’t do anything wrong. Your restaurant required me to make a reservation but cannot manage the tables very well and rude to customer, this is not professional. After that I walk back to the table and talk to my husband and decided to walk out. This is not my first time here and Ive never had a problem to eat here this is first time that very disappoint. By the way they have 3 hosts 2 of them in black outfit were very nice but the rude one was a lady in a blue outfit. If she doesn’t have service mind and bad attitude she should not work in this position. She should find a job that is not customer service focused. She makes the restaurant have a bad image. I’m sorry to give a bad...
