We went here for my birthday and I was not impressed. I've been to Jakers a couple times before and the food has always been good but not tonight. The best thing I ate was the crab spinach artichoke dip but they forgot to put crab in it. It was still tasty but not what I thought it would be. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri, which was also tasty, but I'm not sure there was any alcohol in it. I asked my server how fresh the halibut was. She told me gets delivered in on Tuesdays and today is Friday. I'm excited when she tells me this, thinking I'm gonna get a fairly fresh filet of halibut. After a 45 minute wait we finally get our food. Everyone else loved their meal. But not me. I was served a piece of frozen mystery fish. It was garbage. This dry, rubbery piece of mystery fish tasted only of panko bread crumbs and oil. I couldn't even choke down half of it. I tried to eat my lobster bisque but it was also garbage. It lacked the hint of sweetness that real lobster gives to bisque. It tasted like they added cheddar cheese which completely ruined any other flavors. My baked potato was good other than the burnt bacon that was put on it. The only reason I gave this place a 2nd star was because my server was awesome. She was clearly swamped and still found time to make sure we knew we hadn't been forgotten. I felt bad for her as she ran around this packed restaurant and at given time atleast 3 girls stood around the hostess booth doing nothing but chatting. When the server asked me if I wanted a box and I said no and told her why I didn't like it, she removed my meal from the bill. She was the only saving grace to my meal tonight. However I won't be back. You can buy better frozen fish and lobster bisque...
Read moreWe had the chance to eat at Jakers while visiting Twin Falls. We are from Northern Utah so the drive wasn't all that bad. I am glad that we learned about Jakers while we were there but it wouldn't be worth the drive just for that. (There is a hidden gem in Montpellier that we happily drive to for food a couple times a year).
Upon arrival, we were greeted kindly and seated within minutes (on a Friday evening), it was somewhat full but not packed for a Friday night. We trusted the Google reviews and the hotel recommendation, and upon completion of our meals and service, here is why it lost two stars. (I do change my ratings from time to time so there is a chance this could change if we make it back up there).
-1 for order time to serve time. It took 15 minutes from sit down to order and 45 minutes from order to dinner served. Two adult meals and 2 kids meals. The waitress returned 2 times during our eating which one of those was for our bill. We stayed thirsty throughout the whole meal.
1 for the taste of food vs the price. Our bill was $60+ and the kids meal (spaghetti) had more flavor than my chicken parmesan. The bigger let down what how highly the "Jaker Baked Potato" was spoken of, and when I received a nearly 3/4 baked, baked potato with a large lacking of toppings, I though for sure it would be a step above a twice baked potato with over flowing toppings and flavor to last days. It was the opposite of that. I would recommend changing it into something like that - with a lot of toppings. Make it a big deal that people talk about.
If I could do a - .5 star for the amount of food for the price, I'd complain about that because I couldn't eat half of my baked potato so I left on...
Read moreWhere to start. First of all you all are marketed as a higher end and I have had better food at Texas Roadhouse!!! First of all when was the last time the table toppers and salt and pepper been wiped off they were so dirty they stuck to my hands when I picked it up to read it . It was not a good start. Second we did not get drink menus so when asked if we would like a drink I asked tell me what you have cue eye roll. Waiter brought menus for drinks and was happy they had a favorite beer. Husband had beer I went for the pomegranate martini not sure who is doing their bar but need to learn how to make a drink or management needs to give them the right size shot I tasted no alcohol at all kinda sad for 12.00. And you should always taste your alcohol in a martini. Next came dinner. I had a bad feeling on food so we did not order an appetizer. My husband had rib eye and I had chicken fried steak like impossible to mess up. I was wrong My chicken fried steak looked like it had been run through wringer to make it less than1/4 inch thick. The gravy tasted like flour paste. When I let my server know he did not do anything ask if I wanted something else nothing just ok. I only ate less 1/4 my potato was cold enough that the butter and sour cream did not melt down . My husbands steak was tender but no flavor at all !! 50.00 for a flavorless steak how do you think this is ok. We get our check and we don’t even get a check tray or check folder it gets folded and set on the Edge of the table. All things of this visit was just terrible. I would eat at The Cove and spend 1/4 the amount but good flavorful food . If you are looking for amazing food experience this...
