Beautiful, nicely organized train station named Santa Lucia in Venice provides all the comfort to passengers. It is located at the western end of the Grand Canal, in the Cannaregio district. Not far from Piazzale Roma, where the bus station and tram station are located. From this head station begins the railway section of four tracks that reaches the Venice Porto Marghera station first and then the Venice Mestre station, from where it branches off into the various lines for Milan, Rome, Naples, Turin, Salerno, Bologna, Verona , Brescia, Ferrara, Trieste, Udine. From this station there are also lines to some European cities such as Paris, Vienna, Munich and Geneva. The station is also served by the historic Simplon Orient Express line. Work on the construction of the railway began in 1860. It got its current look in 1952 when all the works were completed under the leadership of engineer Paolo Perilli. Within the station, ticket sales for regional trains as well as for high-speed freccia rossa trains are well organized. Of course there are also vending machines for ticket sales. Staniza offers a rich gastronomic offer. There are restaurants, pastry shops, snack bars, coffee bars. And also a multitude of quality souvenir shops as well as textile clothing stores. La Ferrovia is the name of the Vaporetto stop, which is located right in front of the station. From this departure vaporetto lines area you can take one of these boats, whose many lines cross the canals of Venice and the neighboring islands. One important note, remember to validate your ticket before boarding the train by inserting it into the special machines of the station.

Venezia Santa Lucia train station is the primary railway hub in Venice, Italy. Located on the northern edge of the city’s historic center, it serves as the main gateway for visitors arriving by train. The station is well-connected to major Italian cities like Milan, Rome, and Florence, as well as international destinations. The station itself is a modernist structure with a simple yet functional design. Inside, travelers will find a range of amenities, including ticket offices, self-service machines, restrooms, and luggage storage. There are also cafes, shops, and a waiting area. Despite its efficiency, it can become crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. One of its most striking features is its direct access to the Grand Canal. Upon exiting, visitors are immediately greeted by breathtaking views of Venice’s waterways, with vaporetto (water bus) stops right outside, providing easy transportation to various parts of the city. While Santa Lucia is well-organized, travelers should be cautious of pickpockets and ensure they validate their tickets before boarding regional trains. Overall, it is an efficient and well-located transport hub that seamlessly connects Venice with the rest of Italy while offering a dramatic first impression of the city’s unique beauty.

Imagine you get down at the station and coming out of the station and see the Grand Canal, that's where Venice Vibe hits you. The Venice Santa Lucia Train Station is the main train station that travelers arrive/depart in from Venice. This modern station is conveniently located and provides direct access to the Grand Canal. The station is a perfect entrance to this unique city of Venice. There is daily service to cities throughout Italy, as well as major cities elsewhere in Europe. We boarded the train to Florence. There are ( i guess) 16 tracks at Venezia Santa Lucia, The main floor of the Santa Lucia station is where the train platforms, ticket windows, restrooms tourist information, and some shops and restaurants are located. The left luggage facility is on the main level, near platform one. There is also a Vaporetto (water bus) stop right in front of the station.

Trains were on time and that’s the most important thing for me. Very easy to buy the tickets on the automated ticket machines. Some of them don’t give enough information such as which platform the train is on. On the displays within the station only the final destination is shown so you kinda have to know which line is passing through the city you want to go to. Information centre staff is polite and helpful. They will resolve the train issues you have. Trains are fast, clean, and the overall railroad is pretty straight. You don’t really feel like moving at all. Sometimes there is a conductor to check the tickets but don’t gamble with it. Nobody else will check if you have one while boarding the train. The fines for not having a ticket are not worth it.

Spacious train station that is easily navigable. You find a variety of restaurants, shops and also the machines where you can buy train tickets are spread nicely for tourists to buy easily. When you reach their, you are welcomes by an amazing view with also very convenient ferries to move inside of Venice or just take your bags directly to your hotel. The important thing is that you need to take care of last minute cancellations after 2-3 delays as I was going to get stuck their yesterday after my train got delayed twice, each for 10 minutes then got cancelled all together so ended up paying at the customer service almost 40 Euros more to be able to get back to Florence and the online complain form isn't that easy and keeps getting errors.
