For about 20 years I was walking past Moose Mountain looking at it from the outside thinking it looked pretty lame, and thinking how could you ever afford to build a decent Mini-Golf at a place that is literally the most valuable piece of real-estate in the entire Twin Cities area.
Well finally I was forced to go there because I promised my 9 year old grandson that I was going to take him Mini-Golfing and danged if the indoor course we went to was closed because it was rented out for an event.
Well I was shocked! Ok, first by the high price, but later to find that it was really an interesting, well designed course with each hole having unique challenges! It is NOT a course designed for small kids, I'm sure most of you know what I mean. one where you hit a ball, it goes down to the hole, and you tap it in for a 2. It is Challenging! You have to examine every hole. There are usually multiple ways to play each hole, with each way having advantages and disadvantages. Almost like a real golf course where you have to decide if you want to blast the ball 250 yards over a lake, or hit a safer shot to go around it, but costing you a shot.
I do think that there should be an age limit for playing this course. If you take your 4 year old thinking it is a Put-Put course YOU WILL CAUSE SEVERE BACKUPS. I would say 7 or 8 years should be the minimum age, maybe older if your kid is only used to playing put-put.
If you get on the course and find that your 10 year old isn't ready for such a challenging course, you should either leave, play partners with a proficient person as a partner, or at a minimum have the decency to allow groups behind you to play through at EVERY HOLE. I can see how a single group of people not up to the challenge could add an extra hour to the play time, and there is no way for groups behind them to skip a hole to get past them, making it an awful experience for everyone behind them.
I have seen a number of complaints about the staff. The staff told us about the backup at the first hole. They said a 25 minute wait. They were wrong, more like a 10 minute wait. 25 minute would have been a backup past the registers that a person could clearly have seen prior to buying a ticket. Other than that wait there was a backup on one hole that took about 10 minutes, and we sailed after we got past that one hole. Interaction with the staff is so minimal, taking about 3 minutes at the most that it is hard to complain. Yeah, they didn't force feed us a scorecard that was sitting out there to grab, but the Lame 1st hole's end is 20 feet from the cards and pencils.... Just a good design.
Also, don't go with six people and jam up the course. Split the group. That is just common sense for anyone who knows golf etiquette.
It certainly isn't the best minigolf experience but it is at least one of the best indoor...
Read moreWe made reservations for my son’s birthday at the beginning of May. In my wife’s initial email, she asked about securing food and it was unanswered. The week before, she asked about securing food again, and again unanswered. The day before, she called Taylor, and she did not respond. I called Moose Mountain 3 hours before the party and they assured me not to worry as it’ll be taken care of. I decided to arrive early, to find out they do not sell food. I had hungry kids and adults.
Upon arrival, we asked Moose Mountain to reach a manager for the status of the food. Banessa personally spoke to us and concluded that Guests Service misspoke. They were supposed to inform us that they would allow outside food as a quick resolution. We requested a refund immediately as we no longer had a need for a party room. Banessa promised a full refund, 3 complimentary Moose Mountain tickets and 20% off the remaining tickets. To our disappointment, Thomas would later meet us and inform us the refund and discounts would not be possible; we would have to go through Group Sales (you) to request this refund. I phoned Thomas boss Emily twice, with no return call as of date. We paid for the event in advance, and to date have no refund.
Our party left Moose Mountain. We did not play golf. I am very disappointed with this experience. They ruined our son’s birthday party.
Moose mountain is very confusing about food. They do not allow outside food, but do not sell food. Later to find out, that you can bring food as long as you don’t cook...

I get to the line with my tickets and 2 children... I'm told I would have to wait 15 minutes. No problem, I said. They took my number and said, "we'll text you when your turn comes up".
Great, I think... I can do 15min... well... 30mins later I go to check because the few people that had been ahead of me were already in.
No... the 15min (that had been 30min) now turned into 45 more min. No reasonable explanation given... kind of "if you don't like it leave" type of attitude.
I would've left, but I had non-refundable tickets and 2 kids that really wanted to play it...
So... we went to lunch... came back... the hour ➕ of waiting was going to be even longer...
Finally, about an hour and 15 minutes after the initial 15min wait, we get to go in... not quite...
The 5 year old, that was supposed to be free, now has to have a ticked because the tickets I had were somehow not considered "General Admission" tickets even though THEY WERE "General Admission" tickets.
Whatever... already there... got another ticket...
Kids had a great time... it's mini golf... what can possibly...
