I had just written up an incredibly long review for this place (too long - in fact, I had to shorten it) when Google decided it'd be fun to completely erase and lose it. I shall try to be more concise without losing any of my enthusiasm this time around.
Absolutely AMAZING course. I wish I could give more stars! 500/5 I don't know of and don't believe there is any other obstacle course - much less up to 80 feet up in the air - in the US anything like this. The creativity is just unbelievable. My mom and I estimated that there had to be at least 25 - 50 unique obstacles throughout the entire course, which actually consists of five separate courses that increase in difficulty, except for the last course, which is a zipline back down to the beginning.
You are given a short safety overview of how to use your equipment, then you're set free to navigate the courses at your own speed. There is a kiddie course (which is where the safety demonstration is held by), which looks pretty fun and long for kids. Then there's the adult course, which must span at least half the mountain vertically, and should take around/at least 3 hours to finish the entire thing.
The obstacles are all unique and interesting. The views up on the course are stunning. The zip lines are a fun "break". There are some guides stationed by the more difficult courses, and they are all friendly and encouraging and honestly made me want to work here. I suspect that due to our late start and thus late finish, we kept many of them beyond their scheduled time, but they were nothing but smiles and encouragement. My mom and I decided not to risk dropping anything, so went without phones/cameras/water, so the water breaks stationed between courses were much appreciated.
At the end, if you finish the entire course, you're given a small prize, which really just makes the day. Finally, though you go up on ski lift, you get to ride back down to the bottom of the mountain via alpine slide, which is just the perfect ending to the perfect day. This course is a MUST for any adventurer, anybody interested, and plain anybody in or around Jackson, WY. If you're afraid of heights, do be aware that once you're on a course, there aren't really many options to get down besides finishing the course, so be sure you're ready to try before starting!
The only minor critiques I have are that I wish the signage for the courses was more clear. My mom and I weren't sure where the first course started, as there was no sign that stated "first course" or "start here" or anything, but there's a bike trail nearby, so the trail we took up to the course continued on past it, which was a tad confusing. Also, the height requirement for the adult course might be a little low. My mom and I got stuck behind a mom and her young daughter on the red course, as the kid kept getting stuck when trying to transition between courses, not able to reach up and undo or redo her clips. We ended up basically puzzling with them, the mom going first to unclip her daughter at the end, and one of us clipping her to the obstacle at the beginning. Also, this is an amazing course and it could do some real good for itself to take some more, clear pictures of the obstacles (how are we supposed to appropriately brag to our friends!?), which I think could really help in some well-deserved advertising, too.
All in all, this is an experience I will never forget! The experience is an absolute steal price-wise. If I'm ever in the area again, I will 100% be doing this course again! I already have several friends looking forward to the...
Read moreI've been on a lot of ziplines: Sequoia, Park City, Denver, Blueridge, Dominican Republic to name a few, and Snow King was very disappointing. First of, in true Jackson Hole form, you are paying a premium of $110 for only 3 lines (1 of which is a short practice trip). Most places I've been consisted of at least 6 lines, you're spending a few hours and have incredible views for this price. There is no view to speak of as you cross over their mountain coaster, barren ski lanes, and other ski hill junk with Jackson Hole in the background. You carry your own trolley in a 20 lb backpack - that's a first! These things usually weigh 5-7 lbs and clip right on the front. You carry this thing up a steep rocky hill to practice, then back down and all around. After the second line, you traipse down a hill, some stairs, across a parking lot, and onto a gondola that takes you to the top. (It's hot as Hades on that terrarium too!) I've never had to march all over tarnation, typically the next route begins right next to where one trip ends or at least nearby. Granted their third line is very long and steep, but unless you are trying to mark that off some bucket list, any other place has had much more of offer. Despite the great staff, I was really underwhelmed by this very expensive 2 line zip. Even my daughter said it was the worst of all those we've done. We had way more fun on the alpine slide and it only...
Read moreThe zip line experience was wild and worth every penny.
We had 3 guides that taught us and made sure we didn't make the news. Shelby was the boss and I am glad she was at the top of every line because the last one was very intimidating, but her calm and professional demeanor was soothing. She has done this 1000 times and it showed which gave me a bit of courage. Barrett and Madison unhooked us at the bottom and were great too.
You do a practice line to get used to the commands and the machine.
Then you do the 2nd line which is fun on its own but also gets you ready for the steep drop.
Last line is at the top of the mountain. From the perch you can see the entire town of Jackson and the tetons. Incredible view. Then you drop down the line, two at a time, and go very fast for 50 or so seconds down the side of the mountain. I did it on my last full day with my mom and siblings and it was the most fun minute of the trip. You are really cruising and the views are amazing.
Only downside is that I wish I brought a sports 'cup'. It took me a good 20 seconds to adjust to a spot where I wasn't going to rupture...
