I thought Comcast was the worst, and then I interacted with Time Warner Cable.
As a summer NYC resident, I attempted to have only internet installed in my apartment. The technician showed up late for the appointment and then proceeded to look all around my apartment complex for wires. When I asked if he could run a different wire from the splitter, he instead pulled the existing, attached coaxial cable from the wall instead. He played elevator music from his phone the entire time. He took a personal phone call right in front of me. He asked to use my bathroom, and I later found urine on my toilet seat. In the end, he said he wasn't able to install the services because he needed access to the apartment building basement, which was closed.
I talked with my landlord, who explained that no one had ever needed such access to install internet. I called and complained to TWC, and they promised that a manager would contact me the next day to schedule installation. I would also receive a $25 credit, they said.
No one ever called. It's been 2 weeks. Even worse, I checked my credit card account a few days ago, and I noticed that Time Warner had charged me for services. Luckily, my credit card company will dispute the claim for me.
I should have called Verizon first. Or...

I literally just needed to return a modem. That’s it. Thirty seconds, tops. Instead I got to stand there for 45 minutes watching several employees chat about their weekend while the line kept getting longer.
What’s the point of the digital queue if nobody’s actually helping anyone? I watched people check in, get their number, and then… nothing. Meanwhile the staff is just hanging out behind the counter like they’re getting paid to socialize.
When someone finally called my number, they acted like I was asking them to solve world hunger instead of just taking back their stupid modem. Every single step took forever - scan the barcode, type something, stare at the screen, type some more, ask a coworker a question, back to staring at the screen.
I’ve had root canals that were less painful than this experience. The only thing more frustrating than dealing with Spectrum’s service is apparently trying to return their equipment when you’re done dealing with their service.
Do yourself a favor and just mail it back. Or throw it in the trash and pay the fee - your time is worth more than whatever they’ll charge...

The agent that helped me was not nice , wasn't in any way answer my question and as a matter of fact would not answer them because she told me I can't make changes with her eventhough my name was on thw account and told me ' you keep asking me the same question and I keep giving you the same answer. ' I told her my name was on the billl I get emailed my bill and I pay my bill. She told me that payment doesn't authorize me to make changes on my bill. She was dismissive intimidating and not helpful or friendly. I wss so ready to cancel my spectrum and go someehere else that very second. I can clearly cancel my credir card associated woth the service ! She was awfil. I left the store and called customer svc and was told I had every right to change my bill. I went back in the store and again no one greeted me in the store , not even the manager with a smile or welcome. 96st is terrible customer service, everyone looks miserable there.
