Courtyard by Marriott Oklahoma City Downtown — Attraction in Oklahoma City

I stayed at this hotel a couple months ago and really enjoyed having breakfast and getting a great Starbucks drink with Amber, who I was pleased to see was still there. However I did feel compelled to change my review after what I heard and witnessed today. I don't know what the hotels guidelines or reasons behind having the staff ask for reviews, but today I saw a staff member blatantly and almost singularly focused on obtaining reviews. I watched other staff members asking him for help in the breakfast area where I believe this young man worked. But for the entirety of my stay, which was a couple hours because I was working on my laptop, this young man spent almost every minute of it in the lobby asking people for reviews. It also seems to me like some of the reviews maybe disingenuine if they are coerced out of the guests. Especially at the expense of the workers actual duties and job requirements. This is just something I noticed during beakfast this morning.There was one young lady working in the kitchen he kept coming out looking very lost and confused and a second older man who looked very upset. But the third young man seemed unbothered by his coworkers concerns and the breakfast buffet. I actially overheard him tell Amber to stop telling guests he could make them omelets because he did not want to do them, even though most people showed interest when told. I also witnessed and over herard his young man entering ths Starbucks after I heard Amber asked him multiple times to stay out of the area. Going by this morning it just seemed like a bit of a circus. And after looking at the reviews on this website is obvious that this young man has done this behavior for a while. I'm sure he's a good employee, but there is no one, myself included, that is that good. Just thought I would share my thoughts on the review rat race that appears to be happening at this hotel. One last thing. Amber has always been exceptionally kind and caring with me and all the customers I've seen her interact with. So it bothered me very much when I heard this employee ask Amber what was wrong and I heard her respond she did not approve of his work ethic and he quickly replied "it's a good thing your approval doesnf mean curse word to anyone" before walking off very rudely. I also shouldn't be hearing anything like this in general....

First, the location is great. That being said... AVOID THIS HOTEL. After reading through other reviews given recently, it appears that some of the issues I experienced have been shared by others, indicating a problem with this location...

OKC Marriott downtown is an overpriced, mismanaged mess. Be ready to do your own housekeeping! I can overlook a few things, but for $300 a night, you expect to not have to get your own clean bedding when you arrive, and to not have to refill the broken and empty shampoo dispensers yourself, or wipe the hair off the toilet...or clean the sticky goo off your kid when he sets in a chair...or pick up the pile of cigarette butts and soda bottles off the balcony when you arrive. You'd also expect housekeeping to show up at least once on a multi-day trip. Not here!!! I'll have to go back downstairs again this morning for clean washcloths and towels, because this place is all self-service. The trips started shortly after I arrived, as we had to get clean sheets even then! Stay on a lower floor at least, because you'll have to make frequent trips to the front desk to fix issues.

Oh, and you'll pay for 4 people, and get breakfast vouchers for half of your party, then pay $19 a person to make up the difference.

When a corporation's theory is to maximize profits by cutting staff & paying employees low wages, the result is lower standards of quality. It's obvious that is what has happened here.

Highly recommend that you STAY ELSEWHERE, or you'll be like us, and leave with a bad memory of an overpriced shoddy hotel stay that my family will never forget. I wasted my hard earned money on a family vacation that Marriott ruined with bad memories. I'll be contacting the corporate office about this horrid experience.

Edit: Added another photo of the soap dispensers (1 of 3 left standing now) , after another one in the shower just fell off the wall and woke up my family when it crashed to the floor. Unbelievable. I'd scream into a towel, but there are no...

I would look elsewhere for a quite, comfortable place to spend your time. Our room faced the railroad tracks from the 5th floor and between the trains rolling through and the consistent engine revving by street racing cars and motorcycles until the early morning hours, I couldn't sleep one bit. Not to mention the mattress had not been replaced in years as it was completed caved in on one side where most people apparently sleep. It was practically like sleeping on the bed frame. To top it all off, we could hear the screaming baby next door as if it were in our room because of the adjoining door between rooms. And at random hours of the night there were people slamming doors and yelling in the halls which was impossible to ignore.

There are only 2 elevators with no access to stairs. So we had to drag our dog into the elevator with other people jammed in, or wait until we could get a cab to ourselves (which takes a while at busy times). Pay parking is mandatory at the garage next door, which although convenient, was still $18/night - pretty steep.

Also, the down button on our TV remote didn't work, so we couldn't even enjoy the different internet TV options like Netflix or Showtime because we couldn't cycle to the options we needed to watch it. Despite calling the front desk and requesting the remote be fixed, and them agreeing to do so, they never came to fix the problem so we were left without that perk we paid for. Aside from the horrible mattress and remote problems, the sink in the bathroom drained extremely slowly and the shower was so tight you could barely move side to side.

For what you pay to stay here (even as a Marriott Bonvoy member like me), it is 100% not worth it. I'm very disappointed. I would never recommend anyone stay here for a...
