So I feel bad leaving a low starred review here because all in all it’s a lovely little place. But unfortunately it was so hot in the room we couldn’t sleep either night we were there. There’s no A/C, which we knew about and didn’t expect to be an issue in early June, but even with only mid-high temps (highs around 75-77 F) the room was too hot for sleeping. We did open windows in the hopes of getting a breeze as others had mentioned but there was no breeze and the room didn’t cool down much at night. We did reach out to the property management about it and they told us to turn down the heat which obviously we had already made sure wasn’t on. An installed ceiling fan or even the offer of bringing in a floor or free-standing fan would have made a world of difference. To top it off, because the windows were open to deal with the heat we also heard the following while trying to sleep in the early evening after a long trip there: drunken evening river floats yelling and pounding music, a car stereo bass (how was this even possible in a pedestrian zone), people talking in the cafe below, a rousing chorus of traditional music that would have been enchanting had it not lasted over an hour and involved lots of yelling, people next door talking, and the dulcet tones of Celine Dion’s “Nothing Compares” from the apartment or building next doors…all at the same time. ||As an fyi it’s also about a 7-10 minute walk with luggage from the arranged parking (which was great) down a dirt or gravel path with no real other way in except to book a taxi. We knew about this, it was fine, but we definitely wondered what we would have felt about it if it had been raining and muddy or snowy. ||That said: this is probably a great property in the off-season when it’s cooler and the river is less active. The bathroom is tiny even by European standards but other than this the room is lovely, bed comfortable, and view amazing. It was clean and we can see a lot of good things in it-very convenient to the old town. Like I said, I hate to leave a lower review because there are a lot of good things about it. But at the end of the day if I can’t sleep due to conditions in the room I can’t give it a...
Read moreThis place has about 4-5 rooms only, I stay at the triple room which has a small kitchen with full equipment and dining table, the bed room is very cute its like you stay under the roof top...but you didn't feel any difficult. All rooms inside are clean...its like you stay at home. The location is also near the city center and also the way to the castle. Many shops and restaurant around. At the back of the hotel its next to the river which is very nice. ||||For my trip I took the student agency bus from Prague...and I get out at the last stop (bus will park at 2 station in Cesky) after get out the bus...you need to walk around 1.2 km. which you will feel quite far as I also have a big luggage 28" size but I just pull it along the road and cross the bridge. (might have a little difficulty but its possible). ||||There are some problem that I found with this place and I would like to share so maybe who will stay here can prepare yourself in advance. ||||- There will be certain time that the owner or the reception will be at the pension...so make sure you contact them and let them know advance that what time you will arrive as we didn't and we arrived around 10 am and we would like to keep the luggage and then go around the city...so we need to walk to the shops and ask for some help to call to the owner as we also don't have any Czech sim card. (some shops can't speak English) and then 10 mins the owner come. ||||- At night inside our room the plug or electric is not working...and no 24 hrs reception so have to come down stairs and use the plug instead for charging battery or boil the water or use hair dryer. ||||But overall, I do like this place and will suggest my friends...
Read moreWe had a fantastic 2 night stay at the Pension Na Fortne. Our room was really nice. Worth very Koruna. With multiple windows to let light in. A nice large one overlooking the river. You can step out onto your own rooftop patio with a castle view!! There are a few steps to get up to the room, and I don’t think there was a lift if that is important to you. We had a very nice queen bed. The bathroom was nice and clean, there was a shower, single sink, hair dryer and a toilet. We stayed in September and had great weather, so much so we had all the windows open every night and loved the cool breeze and the sound of the Vltava river. Great for sleeping.||||I don’t think there is staff at the pension all the time. But we told them when we would be there for check-in, and they were there and very helpful and friendly.||||They do not take credit cards for payment, only cash.||||I think they told me that they don’t have the option of breakfast anymore. We had not asked for breakfast when we reserved the room anyway, so no problem for us. There is a great little place not 100m out the door called Kolektiv for breakfast, I will do a separate review on them. The pension even gave us discount tickets for Kolektiv and they were happy to honor them.||||They also have a little beergarten right on the river, and a kitchen I believe. But I never saw either of these things open. Maybe it was the time of the year we were there (September), or maybe they just don’t offer these services anymore.||||Location of Pension Na Fortne is very good and you can walk to everything.||||We would definitely stay here again and recommend...
