If you’re travelling to see the pyramids Gohar Guest House is the perfect place to stay for your accommodation. Here’s what you need to know:
Rooms: Often in Egypt if you stay in a hotel as good a value as this one, cleanliness is normally not the priority. However, Gohar is the exception. The rooms are clean, sheets are fresh, no bad smells with extra blankets for the winter time as well.
Location: Walking distance to the pyramids. Guess what you ain’t paying for an Uber to get there. Sounds great right? What’s even better is that you’re not on a busy street load traffic. And also you’re at good distance away from the closest Mosques for which means 5am prayer won’t interfere in you getting a well earned rest from your 20 thousand steps walking around the Great Pyramids, which you can also view from the rooftop for both breakfast and sunsets.
Host: Halim is a very warm, friendly and accomodating host. Always smiling always accomodating for anything you may need. For Halim alone the accomodation deserves 10 ⭐️’s. The breakfast he serves up is healthy, tasty and highly nutritious with homemade jams, local honeys and fresh cheeses and eggs.
Ammenities: Kitchen to cook. Washer machine at no extra cost. Hot hot water. Bidet. A/C. Free bottled water. Great wifi. All in all everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Read moreWonderful 10 days at Gohar Guest House while we explored Cairo. We had a warm welcome and felt we were being welcomed to a family home. We had everything we needed, we slept well and were comfortable with new mattresses and fresh cotton sheets. Breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. The shared spaces worked well and we didn't feel overlooked, in fact most of the time other guests were out (like us) so we mainly saw them at breakfast. It was lovely to meet like minded people who also enjoyed the freedom Gohar Guest House gave us. The area is very safe and we explored both during the day and at night, the local street market on Zaghoul Street is an experience not to be missed. The entrance to the Pyramids is a 5 minute walk, GEM is about 10 mins by Uber and the museum of Civilization about 30 minutes (Uber). Central Cairo takes a bit longer, and the 2001 bus is worth taking to Giza Metro for a good view of Downtown Giza as you travel through. Everyone is friendly and people will stop to help you too. Cairo is a friendly and safe city. We feel we got to know Halim and Cairo, so much better than a posh hotel with...
Read moreOur family of 5 had a wonderful 6-night stay with Halim in his guest house in December 2024. It is perfectly located close to the Sphinx entrance of Giza, and we could walk easily to the ticket gate and to many other services in the area. There is a large Carrefour grocery store only 1km away, and Halim’s guest house included a kitchen and cooking equipment which was perfect for our family.
The sheets and towels were pristine and everything was clean and in good shape. The beds were extremely comfortable (better than ours at home) and the free breakfast each morning was delicious and filling.
We LOVED the views from the balcony - can’t beat the location! Halim was kind and helpful and anxious to assist. He provided free bottled water, and also helped us with transportation to local sites. We hired Halim for a day trip south to Saqqara and it was a fantastic way to see those hard-to-reach-sites.
We highly recommend this place for its location, cleanliness, amenities, and of course for Halim’s wonderful care as a host. We would love...
