Difficult review. I’ll start with some positives.. the view and proximity to the pyramids were amazing. But greenery rooftop picture displayed is not an accurate representation of the rooftop. The staff were friendly and nice and breakfast was good, although slow.
Bring your own coffee if you are a coffee snob.
However, when it came to the negatives, it far outweigh the positives even based on the price we paid. To start with- when I reviewed the listing description and amenities before booking; It stated there was a SAFE in the room. There was no safe in the room and when I asked reception, they told me there is no safe, but the hotel is SAFE. And she would guard my belongings with her life. Well, that’s exactly what I’m scared of … Had I known this I would have never booked this hotel. We had to carry all of our money (thousands in cash) and jewellery with us all throughout Cairo because we did not feel comfortable leaving it in the room. The hotel seemed like it was being run by children and when I say children, I mean no one was over the age of 16 so it seemed. The towels were stained and covered in hair and same with the bedding. Originally we were provided with one towel and one hand towel for two people I had to ask for more towels. The bathroom is horrendous and now I understand why there’s no detailed/large view pictures of the bathroom. The toilet was leaking water all over the floor. If you would shower, the entire bathroom would be wet. The cleanliness of this hotel was lacking majorly. I don’t know why the staff wouldn’t take a few minutes to just simply wipe down the glass doors and the handles they were all greasy and covered in handprints. I felt uncomfortable touching anything I wanted to crawl out my skin. If you are a no-frills traveler, looking for an economic hotel, that looks nice and are not picky with cleanliness this is the place for you. This wifi did not work. They move the router around to different floors. What topped it off for me in the end of my stay was when I messaged the owner through WhatsApp requesting to book a ride to the airport. The owner assured me that it would be waiting for me and not to worry. The young gentleman working at reception knocked on our door at 5:25 AM notifying me that my cab was here when I went downstairs. My cab was not there. He kept saying five minutes. Five minutes five minutes at this point I’m panicking that it wasn’t gonna arrive in time and that I was going to miss my flight so I ordered my own cab on Uber( which I would like to mention, was a quarter of the cost of what the hotel was charging). What was the point of telling me at 5:25 AM my cab was here...
