I wish there were more stars that I could give. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and shown to a cozy table for 4. Our server, Trent, did an absolutely fantastic job of explaining their featured wine and signature Aged Old Fashion. Immediately, based on the way he described the drinks, our party got one of each. I'm not a drinker but was made a delightful tea of honey, lemon, some sort of blueberry bitters, and orange tea. Everything that Trent described, we wanted and literally handed him our menus and said "you pick". From freshly made cornbread (with house-made butter) to a juicy pork chop, every single dish that was delivered to our table was outstanding. Just as equally delicious as the food was the service and attention to detail. Trent was everything an amazing server could possibly be - knowledgable, attentive, and thoughtful. The General Manager came and chatted with us and was incredibly engaging and knowledgable of Nashville. His passion for the restaurant and the city was astounding. He is a true gem. Later, the owner/chef Trey stopped by and sat down with us for a wonderful visit. Being in the industry ourselves, we truly understand the constraints of time during the middle of a dinner service but everyone who stopped by our table was so incredibly genuine. We just wanted to hang out with their whole team. As we talked amongst ourselves at the table, we felt like we were living a fantasy because we were so blown away with the service and genuine attention the team was giving us, we didn't think it could be real. But it was. Every dish was better than the previous, which was impressive because the first dish was an explosion of flavor in our mouths. And every interaction we had was more genuine and more fun. We were so at home and so inspired by Farm House. They knock everything out of the park from service to food to decor to ambiance. We were in town for a restaurant convention and truly felt like this crew could have been featured speakers because THAT is how you run a restaurant. It was the perfect way to end our trip to Nashville. If y'all are ever in Nashville, please do yourself a favor and visit Farm House (or their sister restaurant Black Rabbit) and you will not be disappointed. Every aspect of the operation was spot on. We only wish we had more room to finish every dish and were in town for longer so we could return for another visit. From all of us to your entire team, we truly thank you for such a memorable dinner. We will be back every time we are in town. Keep doing what you are doing. Thank you and...
Read moreI went here while in Nashville with my father and a few coworkers, and I can't say I expected this place to be so amazing, but it really was. First of all, I'd like to say that all of the portions were perfect, with appetizers being shareable, main courses being generous and filling, and small plates being the perfect side and/or light meal. Also, the restaurant is very vegetarian friendly, but make sure to ask if you aren't sure if it might be cooked with lard or not, such as the pimento cheese beignets (we were informed of this fact despite my only being plant-based and not strictly vegetarian).
The atmosphere was very homely and cozy, and full of talking, laughing people with good food and drinks. The decoration was a beautiful, rustic barn house that went perfect with the farm to table food and locally sourced breweries and distilleries.
Now, the food. We started with something safe- cornbread. Except it was amazing!! Served with a deliciously soft, sweet brown sugar butter, the crispy and crumbly cornbread was not only presented beautifully, but tastes just like Nana used to make it, and maybe even a tad better (sorry, Nana). From there we had the cheese beignets, all which I would have devoured in a heartbeat if everyone else hadn't grabbed one first! The sauce served with it is a must, by the way, not too spicy and full of flavor.
I went with a small plate and a side for my entre, while everyone else had the trout, served with fresh grilled carrots and greens, my dad with side of split pea soup. The only complaint that came from anyone all night was that the peas (The peas, not the soup itself) were slightly over salted. Otherwise, perfectly cooked carrots and delectable fresh blackened trout. The salad I got was served with crunchy sweet peas, delicate greens, goat cheese, mandarin orange and radish with a lovely acidic vinaigrette. Perfect for a small dish paired with a choice side. Mine, of course, creamed corn! Can't get enough of it. It actually comes in two or three flavors, but I chose the jalapeño, and it went so well mixed in with the sweet, creamy corn (little side note, the corn was still firm and not soggy, a must with true southern creamed corn). By the end of dinner, everyone was pleasantly full with a few leftovers for later. My only regret- not taking a look at the dessert menu!
A wonderful dining experience with good service and great food. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Nashville, if only...
Read moreOverall: 3.5/5
We visited The Farm House with a party of 12 to celebrate two birthdays—my mom’s and my wife’s. Because of the group size, we had to call ahead for a reservation, but the process was smooth thanks to the accommodating owner and OpenTable support. Accessibility was a plus, as my mom's wheelchair was easily accommodated.
I chose the restaurant based on its availability and the food images on social media. Unfortunately, many of those featured items—like the cinnamon roll, strawberry dessert, espresso bread pudding, shrimp and grits, and short ribs—were no longer on the menu. This felt like borderline false advertising and set the tone for some disappointment.
Food: 3/5
The food itself was fresh and flavorful, and all dishes arrived hot—a commendable feat for a party of our size. Standouts included the fried green tomatoes (4/5), pork belly (4.5/5), and scallops (which six of our guests ordered and enjoyed, 4/5). I had the rigatoni pasta, which was decent (3.5/5), but not my first choice due to the limited menu.
Dessert was underwhelming (2.5/5). The selection was sparse and unappealing; only two of the twelve guests opted in, despite me covering the bill.
Service: 3.5/5
Service was friendly overall, but a couple of missteps impacted the experience. During the birthday celebration, the server brought out cookies with candles, which we assumed were a complimentary gesture—only to later discover they were someone else's order mistakenly placed in front of us. We ended up needing to order another dessert for my son-in-law.
Additionally, we were incorrectly charged for a scallop entrée and a kids’ chicken finger meal. Thankfully, the owner resolved the issue quickly once we pointed it out, but these oversights shouldn’t happen—especially since no one was missing food, so it was unclear where the extra meals went.
Atmosphere: 4/5
The atmosphere was universally liked. The space is cozy and tastefully decorated with a simple farmhouse aesthetic—inviting and not overly noisy.
Final Thoughts:
While we had a generally good experience, the limited and misleading menu along with service mistakes left us disappointed. The prices felt steep compared to other quality restaurants in Nashville. With some menu updates and improved service attention, The Farm House could easily be a 4+ star destination. For now, though, it's not a repeat...
