I truly dislike it when a server will argue with a customer about what they taste. I think generally people know if they're tasting bitter, sweet, salty, etc. Of course thresholds can vary, but if a customer says it is too sweet for them, don't argue with them, maybe? We specifically asked if a certain cocktail was sweet. He assured us it was not at all.
It was sweeter than the one I ordered, which was already leaning to the sweet side!
When he asked how we liked it, we told the truth and he argued! It really put my partner in a bad mood after that. We never asked for an exchange or refund, and said we would pay for it, but he just wanted to argue and insist he knows the cocktails so well and it's not sweet at all. Implying there must be something wrong with my partner instead. She knows what she likes, and she's very sensitive to sweet things which she had mentioned prior to ordering. When you assure someone it's a very dry cocktail, make sure it is. Everyone's tastebuds are different. And if she says, "Well, sorry, it is too sweet for me." Maybe don't be so defensive?
This was the bar I insisted we visit because the menu looks amazing and the space is modern, and not gimmicky in the way a lot of Prague bars are. The flavours seem so promising on paper, but when you get the cocktails, they're very one-note. With that note generally being something in the sweet spectrum. They also, for the most part, taste fairly weak, which is disappointing for Prague too.
There is little to no ambience, it's cold, and it's not a very comfortable bar. But if you like that minimalist modernist style, perhaps it will appeal. Except for that tacky world map on the wall, that isn't even the entire world. Totally out of place and weird.
To be honest, I would give this place 1 star based on the argumentative/arrogant service and the fact there doesn't appear to be a single cocktail on the menu that isn't sweet, despite what they may tell you. But the server did refund the drink she didn't like, and the bartender himself seems incredibly talented (He made me a decent Last Word, and an excellent looking gin fizz for a nearby table). I hope they let him work his own magic instead of following these recipes... More variety of accurate taste profiles on the menu and this place might be really good.
Prices don't match with the value of the cocktails or quality of experience. I'd rather spend even more and get complex, delicious cocktails. Poor value for money here.
And they charge nearly 2 euros for asking for a dash of lemon or lime juice in a vodka rocks. At least that's what our receipt says. Never seen...

We arrived with no reservation on a Friday night, but there were still a few tables downstairs. Our waiter explained that the menu had recently changed and was now influenced by Asia, meaning there were a few surprising ingredients in some drinks.
I opted for the ‘Jasmine Didn’t Ask’ - gin based with jasmine tea and a sprinkle of salt and Szechuan pepper on the outside of the glass (like salt on a margarita, but this was a tall strip down one side of the tall glass). This deep purple cocktail was incredibly refreshing - and if you’re not into the salt and pepper vibe, you just drink from the other side of the glass. It came served from a Japanese style teapot to add a touch of the theatric to a great drink.
Other notable options: the Spicy Señorita which was gin with sherry, finished with lime, coriander seeds and smoked honey (a strange taste that confuses the senses a little); and also the Rated G, which is yuzu, plum jam and CO2 (gin can be added).
Nice atmosphere, tucked away just outside the heart of Old Town; great service and not...
