This restaurant was recommended by our hotel for authentic Czech food. We reserved online so it was easy - arrived and were immediately seated. Decor is quaint. A decent choice of good Czech food with some specials. The two men on staff are not very friendly or welcoming; the woman was much nicer. Service was a bit slow - particularly the dessert course. Two things happened to merit a four star instead of a five star rating. First, after the meal, I ordered a Viennese coffee (Vídeňská káva) which was offered on the menu - and the waiter rolled his eyes and sighed as if my request was a problem. Perhaps it is time consuming to make but then I would suggest not offering it if it is a problem. Secondly, when it came time to pay the bill (by card) the waiter pressured me to add a tip of either 15 or 20 percent - which I understand from reading online is not something locals are expected to do. Of course he knew we were tourists but I found the way he insisted upon it to be very off-putting. The bill already had included almost 30% addition in “taxes” so I simply told him we would leave the tip in cash to get away from his trying to force me to add a tip. If the service had been stellar, and more friendly, I would have gladly included a tip -...
Read moreIt’s a nice cozy place right in the old town of Prague. Food was great with good options and tasty too!
However just one incident made it very unfavourable for us as a family with the customer service. It’s a traditional old building and my 10 year old daughter got stuck in the restroom. She panicked as the door got jammed and started trying to push and pull to open the door. One of the staff came out being a bit concerned as that could have disturbed other guests (Understandable!). Although he went to open the door, it turned out to be a bit rude to my child causing embarrassment. He also came out laughing, making a joke out the helplessness situation of a 10 year old child to his coworker. Maybe this is a not a big deal!. But his behaviour was perceived as being not inclusive to a particular racial or ethnic group. My 10 year old came out in tears as she dint not feel welcomed and embarrassed by the staff. We are visiting Prague from Sweden and we see the difference in the culture. I know it’s not fair to generalise it based on this one incident by one of the staffs in a restaurant! Anyways I wanted to share as I strongly feel that could be a gentle reminder to be mindful as tourists this is what you get to experience.!

Read moreMy wife telephoned and booked a table late on a Saturday night at 18.30. A table for 19.30 and we arrived promptly. The restaurant had been highly recommended by the Hotel we were staying at in Prague and, included a free beer each at the restaurant if we booked a table. Whilst the decor and food was very good, the service was extremely slow. Yes, the staff were very nice and friendly however, By 20.30 our second course of Goulash with bread dumplings, had still not arrived at our table. My wife and I felt bored even though our potato soup and Beetroot and Goats cheese starters were excellent. At 21.00 we asked for the bill. More waiting. It finally arrived at 21.10. So, if you are prepared to wait for a while to eat pretty good food (like the Venison Goulash and bread dumplings that finally arrived at our table at 20.37) then this restaurant is worth the wait. Otherwise,...
