I would give 0 star if I can. The meal was good, but the service is just terrible: disrespectful and arrogant, I had never been so insulted my whole life in a restaurant like I was in this one. Arriving there with my boyfriend, the welcome was already cold and sarcastic, but well, not even close to what it would happen later. We order the main meal and water, which clearly made the waitress unhappy, given the face she made and that she brought sparkling water (which we didn't order) instead of mineral water. Are all customers obliged to order starters and wine ? We enjoyed our meal, that was good, and waited long time for them to come so we could order deserts. They didn't come. We gave up, and I went to the toilet. When they saw us moving, they came, not to ask if we would like something else, but with the bill already. Coming back from the toilet my boyfriend showed me the bill: 2 surprises: more expensive than what we thought, cause the prices on the menu do not include VAT, they just appear in the bill. There were absolutely no indication on the menu that the VAT was not included in the prices. Besides, the waitress surrounded several times with a pen the zone on the bill that says that service is not included, and that customers are expected to tip ! Does it make sense to tip a such terrible service ? I went to talk to the waitress to ask to see the menu, and to confirm that the VAT fees are not mentioned at all, so dishonest ! At this point the waitress just went mad ! She started to scream at me in Czech (which of course I didn't understand), and by her signs, I saw that she was saying what each value in the bill meant, but with a such rudeness that I never saw a waiter/waitress talking to a customer in my life. She was just two steps away from hitting me! Of course we didn't tip, just payed the main value+VAT, and left. Too bad. The restaurant have a nice decoration and the meal is good (hopefully she didn't spit on it!), too bad both waiter and waitress that work there are...
Read moreToday, my friend and I had dinner at your restaurant. We had visited five years ago during a trip to Prague and remembered our wonderful experience, so we decided to return. The beer was excellent, and the food met our expectations. Our first server, an woman, was a bit reserved but polite and attentive.
However, an issue arose at the end of our meal. When we asked for the bill, a different server came to assist us. We requested to pay separately, and while she might not have realized it, she sighed and told us, “You should have mentioned that before you ordered.” Surprised, we apologized, explaining that we didn’t know. She quickly turned to the counter, placed the calculator on the table quite abruptly, and this left us feeling a bit uncomfortable.
I didn’t want to leave with hard feelings. I gave her 2,000 koruna, covering the amount of 435 koruna plus a tip to round it to 500 koruna. Whether this is cultural or not, my change—a few 500 koruna bills—was handed back in a rather ungracious manner. This left us feeling quite disappointed after an otherwise nice meal.
I genuinely like your restaurant; in fact, I’ve visited each of the five times I’ve come to the Czech Republic. Living in Germany, I often recommend your restaurant to friends who are planning trips to Prague. Of course, as someone who only visits once a year, I understand that I may not be an important customer. Nonetheless, today I left feeling truly disappointed, and I’m uncertain if I will return in the future.
Still, I hope you have a...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I visited this restaurant to try authentic czech cuisine. It started out well, the waiter sat us down, took our order and gave advice about what beer to have with the food. The beer arrived a few minutes later and a musician started playing around the same time, so we were enjoying ourselves. So far so good. After a while we started wondering where the food was. I had ordered soup as an appetizer but that never came. Meanwhile our waiter is standing at the bar having what looks like a very deep conversation with a buddy of his. Later, when we look back over there to get his attention and ask about our food, he is nowhere to be seen. A while later he comes back from outside having just smoked a cigarette it seems. Meanwhile his colleague is racing around serving the other guests and looking stressed. Most of these guests came after us and got food before or at the same time as us. Finally, after 45 minutes of waiting he brings over the main course, which is placed haphazardly on our table. After eating, we have to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for the check. It is the co-worker who finally brings it to us, looking stressed and as if she is just praying for the day to end. The food was tasty, but it really got overshadowed by the...
