The Fahrenheit Restaurant in Charlotte is an amazing experience that combines fine dining with the best views of the city.
I often travel alone. Making reservations can be difficult because most upscale establishments will not take reservations for a single guest, at least not through their on-line reservation system. However, I called and left a message, and within an hour someone called me back and happily made my reservation for one.
There was a short wait when I arrived. I took advantage and ordered an Old-Fashioned. It was a just enough sweets, bitters, and whiskey to start my evening off properly.
I was ushered to my table within 10 minutes, and I was greeted by my waitress, Abigail. Truly attentive with a gracious smile, I already knew she would provide great service. I ordered the small plate of Ahi Poke Nachos Tuna as an appetizer. Abigail explained that I could go out for a view on the observation deck while I waited for my order.
The nighttime view of the city is truly amazing with highlights of royal blue, gold, and the beautiful crown of the Charlotte Tower. Take a minute and your drink, to sit out next to one of the gas-powered fireplaces and take in the city.
When I returned to my table, my small plate was waiting. “Small Plate” does not quite accurately describe the mountain of wantons and rare tuna. It could have fed six people. I concentrated on the tuna and the a few wantons to save room for dinner. The taste was a new experience. The crunch of the wontons, the tender fresh tuna, and the spicy sauce embedded with jalapenos is a mix to satisfy your senses. I would order it again and again.
I chose the Slow Braised American Wagyu Short Ribs for my main dish. It arrived on a bed of Teriyaki Lo Mein, with mushrooms, Bok Choy, and Toasted Sesame seeds throughout. Instead of a fork, it came with chopsticks, and I was able to effortlessly pull the delicate meat away from the bone. It was heaven switching between the short ribs and the Lo Mein. It was the perfect match.
Abigail teased me with the dessert menu, and I gave in. She recommended the Mocha Banana Pudding Brownie Crème Brulee. It was made with Baileys infused whipped cream, vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, bourbon caramel, an expresso banana pudding brownie, and a crunchy Nutella spread. It was simply a masterpiece for a dessert. I can honestly say I have ever had a better dessert. If like me, these are all ingredients you love, then it would be heresy to pass on it.
I completely recommend the Fahrenheit Restaurant in Charlotte. I can only hope that your experience will be as...
Read moreFahrenheit has a strong reputation, but my experience didn’t fully meet expectations.
The restaurant’s decor felt a bit outdated, with red and pink tones that didn’t quite match the lively atmosphere described on the website. One side of the bar was too bright, while the back felt too dark. The seating arrangement was also a bit uncomfortable—the tables were very close together, making it awkward to sit down and sometimes requiring other guests to move. On top of that, the tables were quite high. At 5'6", the table height was almost at my chest— I wished I were as tall as my husband!
As for the food, the Hawaiian garlic shrimp had potential but was slightly overcooked and oily, with a mild flavor that didn’t stand out. It came with a garnish of parsley or cilantro that didn’t add much flavor, and the arugula and green onion salad was too bitter, overpowering the shrimp instead of complementing it.
We also tried a cocktail inspired by Peruvian pisco, but the alcohol was too strong, completely overpowering the citrus balance. It wasn’t enjoyable and is not something I’d recommend.
For our entrees, the cauliflower salad was fresh but a bit too simple. The dish was mainly just cauliflower, and a more flavorful dressing or seasoning could have made tasty. Honestly, too much cauliflower can be a bit heavy—maybe the chef could consider balancing it out with protein, other vegetables or nuts. The chicken schnitzel was a generous portion, but at $42, it felt overpriced for what it was—just a standard fried chicken breast with potatoes and arugula. While it was good, it didn’t have anything special that made it stand out.
Dessert was homemade ice cream, served in three separate cups with a leaf underneath. While the presentation was clean, it wasn’t particularly memorable. The flavors were fine but didn’t leave a strong impression.
On the positive side, the service was good. The food arrived promptly, and the service assistants knew exactly which plate went to which seat without having to ask. As someone who has worked in a restaurant before, I really appreciate details like that—it makes the dining experience feel more polished.
At a total of $168.01, the overall experience didn’t feel worth the price. While I appreciate the effort, I’d likely try other dining options...
Read moreThe 18z Wagyu and the 10z Filet were probably one of the best Steaks I've eaten by far. Rich and flavorful at medium rare on the dot. Salute to the cooks who are the real stars. BUT SERVICE WAS A PURE DISGRACE. I'm pretty sure since being the only Latinos at the bar, we felt as if we were made aside from the tall male and short young girl. The waitress had us waiting for a menu because she was too busy switching channels, but it doesn't take but 4 seconds to welcome us and hand the menus over. But she preferred to take her time on the TV. The second I got up to the bathroom, the Male took the initiative to ask my partner if we were ready to eat. That is definitely a disgrace itself, as server background, you wait till both are sat to ask what they are going to order for food.. Let alone when I ordered, he had the audacity to ask if it would only be one plate to share as if throwing shade, instead of asking my partner if she was going to order in a nicer way. I felt discriminated against because maybe we looked young Latino enough to not be able to afford its price tag. We both ordered plates with an appetizer. Tall white guy was very unprofessional, not sure how he and the other young girl were there, we were set aside until the other older woman came through. At this point, I was about done with my drink. I asked him for another, and he started to serve others drinks and totally forgetting about mine . (Ps. Note that this guy was drinking while bartending. He had his cup and took gulps randomly from time to time) then 3rd bartender (older short woman) asked if we needed something, and she got on my drink right away. She was very attentive, and when I was about done with my 2nd drink , she asked if I wanted another and made my drink right away. I liked her. Wish all of the tip money would have gone to her. She deserves it as she was the only one going back and forth more than anyone there. The food was great, but I felt a lack of respect towards us as guests... atmosphere was a low lit romantic dinner. It's pretty inside, and the patio is lovely at night. The food was amazing, but jesus bartenders need a slap on the wrist for their weak service. Not rated as low just because food makes up for it, and the last waiter made up...
