We were treating our Neighbors to a little dinner. We are local and have been to Josephine's many times. Tonight was simply the best. Kyra, our waitress, greeted us with a huge smile and kindness. We started with a bottle of Pessimist from Paso Robles. Hubby is from CA and we live that wine region. As soon as Kyra started pouring our wine I think all 4 of us said "it smells amazing". Then we tasted it! Oh my goodness it was perfect. We had the Korean lettuce wraps as an appetizer, very good and left a little tingle on our lips. The hubbies loved their Chicken mole dish. Sharon loved her salmon, it was cooked to perfection. I was deciding between the beef short ribs and the pork osso bucco. I asked Kyra suggestion. She struggled as they are both her favorites. She recommended the beef short ribs. These were tied (little restaurant in the Caribbean) as the best short ribs I have ever tasted. I only ate half my meal. Two reasons: I get amazing leftovers and I gave room for dessert . We shared the limoncello cheesecake. I asked if we could have enough whip cream for 4. When Kyra brought our dessert I just smiled and gave her a huge thank you! I noticed that she periodically looked over to our table. I keep saying oh my goodness this is simply fantastic. I stopped by and chatted with the manger to let him know how ANAZING the meal and Kyra were. He was very appreciative! We look forward to our next trip to Josephine's.

*Update* Manager is now threatening to sue me claiming my review (which is 100% true from my experience) is false. If this doesn’t show you how things are handled here I don’t know what is. I asked for someone to help situation, I was ignored. So I posted my experience. Photo of the email below. Worst dinner experience and food In Flag. At 4.6 stars and 900 reviews I imagine something is off. Also when we walked in the entry way is so cramped we had to lean on what we thought was a countertop. It was actually where the food went when it was ready. We put our hands and elbows directly where everyone’s food was being served and no one said anything. Which seems gross to me that they didn’t tell us or care. The vegetables were bland and had no taste, the polenta was dry and also bland. The pork and chicken mole were so bad none of us ate it. The waiter repeatedly asked if we wanted appetizers even though we said no four times. When I told him we couldn’t eat the food he just walked away. A server seeing that 95% of the food was left should do something about it and all he did was bring us the bill and try to tell us about the fire pit outside. Very odd. $200 for food I wouldn’t feed to animals. What a waste. We went somewhere else to eat after since we were all so hungry. I added a photo of my plate, I took two bites of chicken, tried to eat the polenta and left the entire plate. It was not worth $40 at all.

We came with our dog, knowing we would most likely have to leave her in the car. I saw the temporary enclosure on part of their patio and asked it they would allow our dog to be with us in there. They apparently were not planning to seat people in there, but told us they would turn on the heaters in there so we could bring her in. We wee the only role out there the entire time. That spoke volumes as to their putting the client first.Luis, the manager, made sure to check on us twice, starting up the other heater when the first ran out of propane. Very personable and attentive. Katie was excellent help as a server. Do often servers know nothing about wine…not in this case. She was very helpful and knowledgeable, and so personable, The Trifecta was maybe the favorite of the evening fare, with the osso Buco a close second, both were wonderfully prepared and delicious. Will love coming back in the warmer months to sit outside on there beautiful patio. Kudos to this well-run establishment. And thank you! (Took a bite of mine prior to photo,)

We had a horrific experience at this restaurant, that included the waiter shoving my nephew for no reason, and manager comping our entire meal (which was very nice of her, but still, the entire evening was bizarre and awful). I was visiting my nephew, who had been here before for lunch and RAVED about it. We were seated immediately, the waiter explained the specials, and we both decided to have the shrimp bisque, which was delicious. I told the waiter when he came back that the bisque was amazing, and he gave a kurt one-word answer that seemed odd, but whatever. We order our meals, someone other than our waiter brought the food, my gnocchi was okay but nothing special, a little heavy on the stomach and a small serving, qne the side needed salt. My nephew got an osso buco that was in dire need of salt. The waiter -- a tall skinny man with long hair, I believe he's the only waiter there -- never came back to ask how our meal was, and we could not get his attention. Finally, after we'd finished half our meal, I literally had to wave my hands in the air to get his attention before he walked away from the nearby tables, which he was quite attentive to, asked for salt, and that's the last we heard of him until it was time for the bill. He simply never came back. He finally came to ask if we wanted dessert, and I said , "we wanted salt, the meal needed salt." He replied, "well you had already finished so I didn't bring it." I told him, you should have come by after we received our food and asked how the meal was, we couldn't get your attention to even ask for salt. His reply, and I quote, "I see how you are," and ask he's saying it he shoves my nephews shoulder forward with his arm, so my nephew is now pushed towards the table. We were both just astounded. But it gets better. He then comes back, literally throws the check on the table, says nothing, I reply "you're welcome," he turns around, comes back and says "what did you say?" I literally thought he was going to hit me. At this point, I'd had enough, picked up the check, and asked the woman at the entrance for the manager. She said she was the manager, that only three people worked there. I told her what happened, she said he's talk to him, and then took our bill and comped us the meal, which was nice of her. But this guy basically assaulted my nephew. I have only had a similar experience back in 1995 in Washington, DC. This kind of thing doesn't happen to me. I have no idea if this guy is a relative of the owner, and thus gets away with this. But being inattentive is not great, being rude is really bad, and assaulting a customer is simply bizarre. Again, I'm glad the manager was kind of enough to comp us, but we left furious. There is something very strange about this place, and really wrong with this waiter. And since it appears he may be the only waiter working, you will get this guy. I cannot leave a bad enough review to warn you off from this restaurant. Being assaulted by a waiter is simply beyond the pale, let alone having his assault you because you asked for salt! And, in the end, our food was mediocre, which obviously is its own issue. Lovely location, however, historic old building. And as I said, the woman who was managing was a lovely person. But it's just not worth going through the craziness of the evening. Surely, we're not the first party he's done this to. I'd recommend you steer clear if he's still...

My wife and I, and our two friends have been going to Josephine’s for years. It has been our favorite restaurant in Flagstaff. But not anymore. Today we went to Josephine’s for happy hour. What a frustrating and disappointing experience.

First: The restaurant’s website doesn’t offer very much information about Josie’s Happy Hour. It has just a few drink specials, hours, and a limited selection of food. Nothing about seating arrangements, nor reservations.

Second: We arrived at 3:30 in the afternoon. It was 90+ degrees outside, which is hot for June in Flagstaff. We were met at the door by an employee. When we said we would like to sit inside, she informed us that happy hour seating is outside only, by the bar area.

Third: When we were seated we were told that we would have to use a QR code that is on the table to place our order online. This is something I would expect at a fast food restaurant, but not at Josephine’s

Fourth: The online ordering app is terrible. We had to scroll and scroll to see the entire happy hour menu. On the patio, there was a sign by the bar listing drink specials that weren’t listed on the online menu.

Fifth: Out of exasperation, we flagged down a waitress to ask her if the items on the outside sign are offered during happy hour. The waitress was very understanding and apologetic. She assured us that those items were available during happy hour, but we would have to order them with her. The rest of our order would be done online.

Sixth: The online happy hour food menu is extremely limiting. Online there were only seven appetizers. No explanation about how many people they serve. We had to guess how many items we should order.

Seventh: When ordering online we had to complete the payment process before our order would be sent to the bar and kitchen. This meant that we could not run a tab. By the time we finished, we had to pay three times. Also, unless you create an online account in advance or while you’re at the table, you can’t go back to see what you previously ordered or to make sure you weren’t double charged for anything.

Eighth: The food wasn’t very good. Not up the standards we experienced durning our previous dinners at Josephine’s. The happy hour cocktails are very small.

The four of us will not be going back to Josephine’s for happy hour, and because of the negative experience, we may skip Josephine’s the next time we go...

Update: Came back a month later because we loved the atmosphere. On the way here I was talking about how I want to bring my mom here when she visits. Idk if ai should now because she would complain much louder than I do.

If I could give a negative number for service I absolutely would. Nothing like hard-boiled eggs on my eggs Benedict and warm diet Pepsi refilled 20min after first asking and having to ask for it multiple times. By the time he came back and we sent my food back it wasn't worth waiting for it to be replaced because everyone else was almost finished eating. The food has good flavor but is very inconsistent. Not worth it. Won't be back.

This was our first trip here. My husband picked it for Fathers day. We are really grateful they made room for us without a reservation. For the most part it was very enjoyable. We were waiting for my MIL and daughter to join us so we ordered drinks and appetizer while we waited. Drinks came quick but we never got our appetizer and I was excited to try fried green tomatoes for the first time. We ordered our main food quickly after the rest joined us but did have to correct our waiter on fixing one of my daughters drinks and my MIL had to get silverware from another table. Our waiter was very attentive to the table next to us but didn't seem as interested in making sure we were set. It was clear my daughter HATED her food she ordered she only ate one bite and hung her head while crying quietly to herself. Not the restaurants fault by any means just still a little surprised it wasn't ever noted then again our waiter was pretty non existent. We all gave her parts of our meals instead and I tried eating some of her food. Which I will agree was not that great. She had gotten a salad and didn't know the meat needed ordered separately. I had no idea either. The rest of our food was fantastic I loved the eggs Benedict and my husbands salmon. My other daughter got the Banana Foster pancakes and those were incredible. The family next to us also added to a good experience. All in all it wasn't bad. It wasn't until n later we realized we didn't check if we got charged for our appetizer or not. I guess we will never know. Idk if we will be able to afford going back any time soon but minus our waiter being MIA and my daughters salad being... well ... just a lettuce 😅 it is definitely a place id recommend especially for a...
