Late night service. 2am I go to Denny's quite often, because in Los Angeles, diners aren't "a plenty" and IHOP is oddly expensive. Although IHOP downtown has pretty good service for how busy they get with such a short staff. I got 2 refills! I've been to quite a few Denny's, but one is quite close to my gym, so I frequent here more than others. In the beginning I got a very professional server. Especially since I go late at night, between 12 am and 4 am. He was very attentive. If I even looked like I needed something, he would come over. And then, one day, he didn't work late night. Another older gentleman took his place. This older gentleman isn't so great. He's friendly, but it isn't genuine. He has never…ever gave me a refill. I've probably had him over a dozen times now. Tonight, actually right now at this very second, I am at Denny's. I'm trying a new specialty item and it's delicious(crazy spicy skillet). But I waited 15 minutes for him to take my order. And I was starving. I also asked for coffee and a glass of water. I got the same lackluster lonely cup of coffee with no water and plain creamers. And I KNOW they have hazelnut creamer in this joint. I would love some Chalula with my meal. But he hasn't came back to ask if my meal is okay. And he never will. He won't give me a refill unless I chase him down. I have a cold liter of bottled water in my bag, but that's for the gym. I am now out of coffee. And I am thirsty. What he doesn't know is that I'm not just a guy in sweats who comes in here and writes in his pad or reads. I actually have years of experience in guest services and fine dining. In fact, I took a brief fine dining class yesterday at work for a new table service program I'm involved in. I'm a protectionist at an upscale movie theatre in Santa Monica. I'm also a supervisor in every area at my location. I love guest services. I go out to eat almost every day and observe how other places perform. It pains me to come here. I would literally go to Subway on the next street if it had wifi(or fatburger). They've never let me down. A guest just got up from his seat, walked all the way up to find him, just to ask if he could order. The server also somehow was able to ask the table behind me if they were okay, even though they finished their food quite a while ago. They've had no refills either. When did this service become acceptable? My company's location gets reviewed weekly sometimes. I have to assume that night shifts at restaurants never get a review, because this is a huge problem. I've moved the plate from in front of me, have no coffee in my cup, but I am still very thirsty. There's another Denny's near union station that's 50/50. One server isn't great, but one server is superb. Especially since crazy people come to dine there every night. If I order tea from him, the hot water is in a kettle on a plate, with a bowl of honey packets, lemon, and a spoon. And he also has a cup full of hot water, so I rarely need a refill. Out of 4 denny's, only 2 servers have ever done this. But since it has been done, I obviously now know that this exists at Denny's. Also, there's a chicken tender slugger meal for 8 dollars that comes with coffee and orange juice, which is a phenomenal deal. After the second or third time I ordered it at this current location, I received orange juice and no coffee. He never came back, so I was just unfulfilled that night. You won't believe this. I got a refill of coffee! Unfortunately he dropped off the bill first, didn't take my empty plate which I moved from in front of me, and this is the first time he's acknowledged me since 2am. It is now 2:45. Also, the coffee is filled up too much for me to add cream. It's so ironic I had that class today. Everything wrong that is done here, we covered in the class. Also. I have over 13k followers on Facebook. I'm usually doing research on a post while I'm eatinf here. Thus the reason for needing wifi. I may post on my page about...

4/21/2025 Unfortunately due to the experience tonight at the Denny's I always came to our relationship has ended tonight due to the server being racist towards me and very nasty the man ran to the back and grabbed a flashlight and pepper spray I have never experienced this at Denny's.
I cancelled the order because there was no way I could eat anything from negative energy or miserable energy and he possessed both unfortunately.
I never received my PAID dinner or refund.
Lastly, as a volunteer for the fires in la and donating my time and energy to feed those affected by the fires I was extremely dissatisfied with how this man treated me.
So our relationship is over I wish the GM and kitchen staff the best but never again

Read moreMy friend and I decided to walk to Downtown LA looking for a place to eat and grab a cup of coffee this morning. We walked into this Denny ´ s location and immediately the staff were friendly. We were led to our table by Charlie, who later made the day for my friend Olivia.
So, we looked at the menu for while and sadly when we were finally ready to place our order we find out from our server (Aaron) that the soup option that is listed on the menu is not made at the restaurant anymore (consequences of the many setbacks of COVID). Of course, this is after I had already ordered coffee to go with my breakfast. So, I wanting to eat together with my friend I decided to no longer have breakfast here. Instead, I ask my friend to let me finish my cup of coffee and then we can go look for a place where she can order soup. We communicate this to Aaron, who is understanding and walks away.
A few minutes later, Charlie, who happens to be helping out at this location, comes over to our table and tells us that he was informed that we would be leaving the restaurant because the soup we wanted to order is not available. He then tells us that if we have time the kitchen staff will be making the soup we wanted. It is at this point that we are d & grateful for this type of customer service. Charlie definitely went above & beyond to make us happy guests. I must also mentioned that much later when the soup was served my friend was also grateful that her soup was tasty.
It is employees like Charlie & Aaron who make guests want to return to a restaurant.
Our server Aaron was amazing, thank you for taking such great care of us.
